MEL Health & Safety Consultants
M.E.L. (Health & Safety) Consultants has been helping businesses across the UK to comply with health and safety law and reduce workplace accidents for over 20 years. We focus on sensible and proportionate safety management. Our aim is to provide sound advice, practical support and training to help companies manage health, safety, fire and environmental issues.

From providing on-the-ground safety consultants, to producing and auditing health and safety policies and procedures we are here to help. We support a diverse range of clients from multinational construction companies to low-risk, office-based SMEs. Our clients include Seele, Multiplex and many more.
Services
Site inspections, safety audits and equipment testing are part of the ongoing process of ensuring you are complying with health and safety law, and prioritising the welfare of your employees, stakeholders and members of the public.

As well as implementing health and safety policies our consultants are highly qualified and experienced in conducting site inspections, testing equipment and auditing against ISO standards and individual company policies and procedures.
Every organisation is required by law to have a 'Competent Person.' This is someone with the necessary knowledge, expertise and experience to effectively manage health and safety. For some organisations it isn't necessary or practical to hire a full time health and safety person. This is where we come in.
Adopting a safety management system can help your company become more efficient, retain staff, save money and grow in both stature and reputation. Each management system is based on the "plan-do-check-act" management model and embodies the principle of continual improvement as exemplified in the British Standard for quality assurance systems.
General risk assessments are required by law - Management of Health and Safety at Work (Amendment) Regulations 2006. A risk assessment is the process of identifying what hazards currently exist or may appear in the workplace. A risk assessment defines which workplace hazards are likely to cause harm to employees and others and the control measures that are required to reduce those risks to as low as reasonably practicable.
SSIP (Safety Schemes in Procurement) is the mutual recognition scheme for occupational health and safety standards in the UK. There are a number of safety schemes across the UK construction industry, so it's important to make sure any accreditation you undertake is a SSIP member. SSIP aims to reduce health and safety assessment costs and bureaucracy for the whole supply chain across the construction industry.
