I am a Notary Public based near the Peninne market town of Hebden Bridge and I provide notarial services to individuals and businesses throughout the western part of Yorkshire and Eastern Lancashire. A Notary is a specialist lawyer whose qualifications are accepted throughout the world, in contrast to a solicitor whose status is recognised only in England and Wales.
I am largely concerned with verifying information and documents for use overseas (or in Scotland!) by people who have business or property abroad. For historical reasons I am appointed by the Archbishop of Canterbury, I am regulated by his Faculty Office and I have to maintain insurance cover for your protection.

Services
People don't often find themselves needing the services of a Notary Public but when they do it is frequently unexpected and often urgent. I can usually deal with a matter within 24 hours although it may take longer if third party input is required. Certifying the genuineness of academic professional and similar certificates for people going to work overseas.
I have a standard charge of 80.00 for notarising a straightforward document usually with an extra 20.00 for each additional documents dealt with at the same time. For more complex matters I charge on the basis of the amount of time taken and my present hourly rate is 160.00 an hour.
In exceptional cases, for example where the work is extremely urgent or an appointment needs to be arranged at an antisocial time I reserve the right to vary the rate. For procuring legalisation (presentation of the notarised document to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and/or foreign Embassy) there is usually a charge of 20.

Please note that in accordance with the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you have the right to cancel where services are provided at a distance or "off premises" ( away from my office or interview rooms).
If you ask me other than at my office or interview rooms (at your home for example) to provide you with services I may ask you to waive your rights under this clause in order that I can rely on your instructions and start my work.If this situation arises I will ask you to sign a document to that effect.
