Our Vision: At Ethelred Nursery School and Children's Centre, we believe that every child and every family matters and we want every child to be given the best start in life. Mission Statement: We are committed to providing outstanding Early Years provision based on high quality play experiences. Our services will be delivered in an inclusive, safe, caring and stimulating learning environment where children can enjoy their learning and have fun.
There are a range of policies and procedures we follow in the centre to ensure your child's safety and well-being, including accidents, medicines, fire drill procedure and security. If you would like to find out more, please ask a member of staff. Some of our polices are displayed in the parents' room and copies are available for you upon request.
Our federated governing body is made up of volunteers from Ethelred, Holmewood, Triangle, Effra and Maytree communities. Members include parents, staff and people in the community and local authority who are interested and want to help us develop to meets the needs of children and families in the community.
The school has an improvement plan, which outlines the priorities for development for governors and staff. See below for a summary of our priorities for this academic year. The first report also demonstrates the areas that we spent the money on and the impact of this spend. If you would like a detailed copy of any of the above documents please contact our admin officer.
As an integrated centre we have a multi-disciplinary team with staff from different professional backgrounds. In our Nursery School we have specialists in early education for children from Birth to 5 years, which we feel provides a strong foundation for all of our work.
Our Children's Centre team are from a range of different backgrounds, but members from all teams work closely together in order to ensure the best possible outcomes for children and families.

The best nursery! Amazing experience with my children. Very professional, friendly staff. Caring for the kids, allowing time to develop their skills, small ratio of kids to teacher. Feels like family. Approachable, available to discuss with parents any time if any concerns arise. Very impressed!
Comparing to issues that I hear from other parents from other nurseries I believe that we are sooo lucky that our kids are going to Ethelred nursery!!
Also the building is new with big outside playing area very well equipped and extremely clean!!! Many bathroom facilities for the kids easily accessible

Granny here:) My own children went to this nursery 30 years ago! Now my grandson attends. Back in the day this was the best nursery that my 3 children went to. They learnt so much and were very happy every day. Now it was my grandson's turn to go to nursery. Obviously all my grown children said, "Get him in the Ethelred". We doubted that the standard of care and the daily structure would be the same exceptionally high standard as we all remember. We as a family are delighted to say, it hasn't changed. My grandson had no problem settling in, I think it only took a few days before he told his mum

My son has been attending this nursery since last year and I can honestly say that his start to education has been a positive one.
He settled in really well from the first day and is always happy to attend every morning.
Provision is creative and inclusive.
Staff are warm, informative and professional.

We have two boys. Our eldest attended the nursery last year and "graduated" this year. Now is our youngest's turn...The building is very new and modern, always very clean and tidy with very good facilities. What does make it stand out though, I think are its people and we couldn't ask for more from a nursery; Very friendly, honest, family-like staff , yet extremely professional with always clear communication with us parents. We have seen our kids learning and developing every day and you can actually see the difference; they are more sociable, more responsible, and are building their personality

My daughter has been going to this nursery since we came out of the first lockdown and she absolutely loves it. We haven't had any negative experiences or reasons to complain. The first time we went to view the nursery, we were amazed at the space the children have to play and explore. The staff are always welcoming and ready to have a chat about your child's progress. A lot of times when my daughter comes back from nursery, she role plays her experience with her dolls and teddy bears like she is teaching them, that really helps me to see how she is developing. Both my children currently attend Ethelred nursery. After doing a thorough search for a nursery suited to our needs, Ethelred popped up. In my desperation to find an 'outstanding' nursery I even tried to apply before my children turned 2 years old. The receptionist was and is still amazing. She advised me on how and when I needed to submit my placement application, and regularly kept me up to date with the progress.
The facilities, staff and resources are next to none, I couldn't ask for a better place for my children to be educated.

Our daughter has gone to Ethelred Nursery School for the last two years, and we would highly recommend it. The staff are lovely, very warm, caring and professional and go above and beyond for the children. Our girl has adored both her key workers. As a nursery school they take the children's development seriously, and have really helped her to grow in confidence, get creative - and even learn to write her name! The facilities are good, much bigger than other nurseries we saw; there are always lots of activities going on and lots of artwork as well as learning through play.

Absolutely love this school my child has gone there for 2 years and he's loves it with the most amazing teachers my child is very clumsy and they handled him very well when he broke his arm in school they got rid of the climbing frame I highly recommend this nursery to all my friends and family. never had any trouble with of the teachers.

My experience has been amazing, my daughter started going to Ethelred nursery in September, I found out about the nursery by attending the stay and play sessions held at the children's Centre. As I live a distance away this nursery has made the journey worth it, My Daughter is well taken care of and nurtured, the nursery is clean and always well organised and all the staffs are so polite and understanding when it pertains to your other obligations, I'll highly recommend this nursery.
