Services
St. Martin's is a small, family-run nursing home providing high quality nursing care in a comfortable, homely atmosphere. The home is set in a large Victorian House which retains many of it's original period features. Our 'open door' policy means that families and friends are free to visit whenever they wish, at any time of day or night.
Proper nutrition and hydration is essential to health and wellbeing. We make sure that everyone's preferences and dietary requirements are catered for in our home. Meals are freshly prepared and our chef liaises closely with residents to ensure that menus reflect their preferences. Staff are available at meal times to provide assistance with eating and drinking if required.
Our Activities Co-ordinators organise a range of activities and events for residents every day from 10am. Organised outings include coffee mornings, trips out for lunch and visits to local places of interest. Family and friends can take part too.
Regular visitors to St Martin's include our pianist Moya Addiss; Charlotte Costello who sings popular favourites for us; The 40's Three Jazz Trio and a friendly long haired chihuahua called Tess, a specially trained 'Pets As Therapy' dog.

The story begins in the 1980s when the proprietor of St. Martin's, Bernice Underhill, first became interested in working with the elderly after caring for her grandmother one summer. Soon after, Bernice undertook voluntary work at Elderslea, a day centre and residential home for the elderly.
Bernice decided that she wanted to pursue this work further and persuaded her husband, to sell the family home and buy a property large enough for their family to live in along with a number residents. In 1986, this ambition was realised when they opened Newhavens Rest Home, a three storey Victorian house situated in Vesey Road, Sutton Coldfield.
