Glenns Opticians was founded in 1936 and now after 80 years, is located at 89 Liverpool Road, on the corner with Queen's Road (opposite Merchant Taylors Girls School). The Practice is owned by Martin Glenn, who has practiced in Crosby for 45 years, following in his father's footsteps. Glenn's may have a history, but to enter the new premises is like stepping into the future.
This is one of the first tests to be performed in a comprehensive eye examination and it will give your optometrist an idea of what kind of prescription you may need. It gives a good starting point for the other tests. The autorefractor is a computer that works on a similar principle to the autofocus on your camera and gives the optometrist an idea how strong your glasses need to be without you speaking.
The SPECTRALIS(R) 4D HD Eye Health Check is much more than your standard sight test. It employs the use of a high-tech eye scanner to scan your eyes and look for very early signs of retinal disease. This technology is used on board the International Space Station to check the health of astronaut's eyes and now you can have your eye health checked in exactly the same way here on planet Earth!

Fantastic service, my daughter has dyslexia so needed special colour test and glasses, Glens where recommended. After attending all the big named High Street opticians and being disappointed with their quality of service and / or lack of choice in frames, what a delight to meet Mr Glen. The shop is pristine and spacious with a fantastic range to choose from. No hard sell just great advice and service, also when asked if he could assist me in disposing of multiple pairs of old glasses, he informed me supports a charity who re-issue them. Delighted with my new glasses, sunglasses, cleaning cloths and bottle of lens cleaning spray (with the benefit of ongoing free refills). All of the above combined with the

I contacted the Opticians for help in dealing with Mearles-Irlen Syndrome. Following a thorough assessment, I now have a prescription pair of tinted glasses. I am updating my review from 7 months ago to reflect my heartfelt thanks to Mr Glenn for potentially saving my grandaughter’s sight and even significant and life changing brain damage. He identified a serious issue when conducting a routine eye test and made an urgent appointment for Ophthalmology at Alderhey. They acted quickly, performed an MRI and lumbar puncture and she is now recovering under their care. We will be forever grateful to Mr Glenn for his prompt professional response.

Recently became a customer of Glenn’s after using a couple of larger optician chains. My recent eye test and contact lense check was extremely thorough and I was able to trial a range of lenses for fit ,comfort and vision.
