BCT is a charity that works comprehensively in the area of mild to moderate mental health issues. We have counselling sessions operating in 17 community based programmes across Merseyside and the North West with our therapists delivering a variety of modalities and interventions to the particular patient group it engages with, such as advice and guidance, person centred interventions, CBT, EMDR, EFT, child therapy, couples therapy, hypnotherapy, interpersonal and relationship therapy. It is a self-referral process.
Services
BCT works in a strictly confidential manner and adheres to strict professional guidelines that include a Code of Ethics as set out by the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapy (BACP). All our therapists hold enhanced DBS certificates. One of our core services is to offer free treatment and support to those affected by problematic gambling, including partners, family members and friends.
Problem gambling is the urge to gamble continuously despite harmful consequences or desire to stop, causing harm to the gambler and those around them. No one knows what causes problem gambling. Although there are relationships found between family gambling behaviour, age of onset and experiencing a big win early in their gambling career, it is not possible to determine cause and effect.
Take our free self-assessment tool today and we will endeavour to be in touch with you by the next working day to offer you FREE and confidential support. Self-exclusion is a process when an individual can ask a gambling operator to exclude them from gambling for a set length of time - usually between six months and five years.
We understand how somebody else's gambling can affect those around them; emotionally, physically and financially. We offer FREE, confidential and professional support for those affected, including family members, partners and friends. We understand how problematic gambling can not only affect the individual who is gambling, but also those around them.
Gambling Harms North West Alliance was formed in early 2019 when a lived experience group of 'recovering gamblers' and 'affected others' joined together with Beacon Counselling Trust and Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust to form an alliance to address gambling related harms.
GHNWA Aims and Objectives are two-fold - to be PROACTIVE to promote safer gambling safer and REACTIVE to help and support those who are suffering any form of gambling harms. We have identified and produced Clear Care Pathways and Community links through our Community Connectors mode. We are keen to increase our membership and involve more people who are interested in being part of our forum.

So it's bn 1 year since I last placed a bet of any kind. Never imagined I would ever have achieved that when u and your addiction are so intertwined or so it seems. Beacon trust and my counselor Kim played such a huge roll in this and I am truly thankful I asked for support. To be honest with another human being without judgement lifts such a massive weight of you . I recommend any 1 who is struggling to take that chance. Ur addiction does not define you it's just a moment in time and life will get better. Using services like beacon was the turning point for me and I hope that can be the case for

Although my relationship with Beacon Counselling is more of a preofessional nature, it’s hard not to notice the care and dedication they take in helping their clients. In the short period I have been working with them it’s evident what a first class service they are offering from a warm and friendly group of staff. Would highly recommend professionally or for anybody needing help!

I have recently finished my 8 sessions. What can I say, Beacon has helped me in so many ways. Helen has been amazing and I would recommend her in a heartbeat. She has always been there, listening & advising. Never once been judgemental. I can honestly say, I was worried about going for counselling, scared in some ways. I had no need to be I felt at ease as soon as I walked through the door, the girls on reception have always been lovely too. If anyone is in two minds... dont hesitate get yourself to Beacon!

After 40 years of being a gambler and tried all the others I can across Beacon. within Hours a meeting was set up and today is my last of the 8x1 hour sessions. Without Beacon I wouldn't be here today. Suicidal thoughts on a daily basis, debt collectors, always being skint. But Kim has been my angel in disguise, never judging, always listening and again without the support and caring work by Neil , Kim and the rest of the amazing team I wouldn't have got through this. Each day at a time, I thank you from the bottom of my Heart. *****

After gambling for the best part of 20 years, it started to get out hand and over the last few years I was losing a lot of money and going from betting shop to betting shop, self excluding and going back again after it had run out. William hills were always willing to welcome me with open arms despite being well known as a big loser who self excludes. I decided I needed some help because I just couldn't Stop. I decided to contact beacon counselling because they offered one to one counselling services, I could not of gone to gamblers anonymous as I am not a group person and I would of felt uncomfortable
