Services
Drighlington Primary School is a friendly, inclusive school where the values and ethos of a high level of care for every individual underpin our daily work. We are proud to say that Ofsted rated our school Good and, in particular, recognised the school's focus on well-being. The principles of children being safe and happy through nurture are valued and reinforced by everyone in our school.
Children are given the opportunity to develop an awareness of the past through first-hand experience, visits to places of historical interest, role-play, fictional stories set in the past and the study of periods in history. Children are taught to have an understanding of chronology and to demonstrate factual knowledge of historic events, places and people.
Our staff team work together to ensure that everyone is safe and happy, that our children are given a broad, balanced and interesting curriculum, all meet their full potential and are prepared for high school. Our staff are always willing to help. Everyday queries can be sent to the class teachers via our communication app called Classdojo, which all parents are expected to subscribe to, free of charge.
Our Governors work closely with the Head Teacher and Senior Leaders to ensure that all statutory requirements are met. Governors ask challenging questions and play a leading role in establishing the strategic direction of the school. They are highly committed to the welfare of children and to the principles of quality first teaching so that children reach their full potential.
I sit on both of our committees, Resources and Teaching & Learning and I'm the responsible governor for Anti-bullying and Equalities. I truly believe that all children deserve the best possible education and that I have the skills to contribute to helping our school achieve the best results for them.
