The Chestnuts Riding School is an Equestrian Centre located 5 minutes outside of Brighton on the A23 Southbound. We have a huge floodlit Indoor Arena for year round riding, and the best hacking in the area, with instant access to the South Downs via our Private Bridlepath. The Chestnuts Riding School is fully licensed by 'Mid Sussex District Council' (MSDC), and Insured.
Services
The Chestnuts Riding School offers some of the best horse riding in Sussex! Our Indoor Arena is fantastic (the client testimonials say it all), and our Hacking second to none (totally road free with direct access to the south downs from our premises). As for the Horses, they are simply the best, and possibly the safest in the area.
It's your mandatory first step to riding with us. You'll register your details with the school before your lesson starts, and then be introduced to your horse, and instructor. If you're a beginner, the instructor will teach you the fundamentals of safe Horse Riding, and you'll continue your learning with further Private Lessons.
A Private Horse Riding Lesson is an intensive One-to-One session with an instructor in our Floodlit 40x20m Indoor Arena. These are suitable for both Total Beginners right up to Experienced Riders. Private Lessons are taught in our Floodlit 40x20 Indoor Arena, they are suitable for both children and adults.
A Group Horse Riding Lesson is taught in our Indoor Arena, you'll be practicing different exercises, to improve your riding and gain great confidence and horsemanship. A Group will typically have 6 riders to 1 instructor (with a maximum of 8).

The minimum requirements for the majority of Group Lessons is proficient Walk and Trot with some Canter experience, sometimes we offer Beginners Groups, this is where all riders are total beginners, and each rider and horse will have a handler, until all riders in the group reach a safe standard where they can control the horse themself.Group Lessons are really fun, and a great way to continue your riding experience after Private Lessons.
The Chestnuts Riding School has fantastic hacking, clients hack up our Private Bridleway straight onto the South Downs Way public bridlepaths (taking less than 10 minutes), from the Chattri Field, there is approximately 15 square miles of hacking without road works. The majority of our hacks are 60, 90 and 120 minutes in duration, and are affordably priced in comparison with our competitors.

SHOCKING....... Emailed for a lesson in showjumping and was told they could accommodate me. I got no alternative or a solution for my enquiry which is sad. I asked for a solution and got no response. So if this is the service you get trying to give them money, I can imagine what it's like once they have your money. Steer clear

Having read the previous review I have to say it is diametrically opposed to our own experience. I can't say enough positive things about Chestnuts ridding school. Be it the standard of tuition, the caring and considerate approach of the owners as well as the general camaraderie of the loaners, staff & liveries. It is a safe, caring and fun environment. Simply put could not ask for more. Suffice to say 12yr old daughter loves it and lives and breathes to be at Chestnuts. I know she is not alone in that conclusion
