Pilates is named after its creator, Joseph Pilates who lived in the 1900's and emigrated to America from Germany after World War One. Pilates is a mind-body connecting exercise programme that works the whole body by co-ordinating the deep postural muscles with the muscles of the upper and lower body.
When back pain is treated at this Centre we go beyond the immediate area of pain to find the source so that we can effect long lasting pain relief that will be sustainable and offer the client extra protection of the whole spine long term.
After numerous and extensive treatments by Osteopaths, Chiropractors and attending Alexander Technique and Yoga classes with very little long term benefit, I have been both amazed and delighted by Carol's dramatically improved back problems.

Rosie made me feel incredibly welcome as a newcomer to her pilates group, especially as someone who joined as a newbie over zoom. She is truly dedicated to ensuring we all get the most out of each class, whilst putting everyone at ease with her friendly and calm teaching style. I would certainly recommend Rosie to anyone looking to take up or continue pilates - the Zoom lessons at the moment are fantastic and I look forward to in-person classes in the future.

I found Rosemary about 12 years ago when I was suffering from sciatica, had tried my doctor, physiotherapy, a chiropractor - nothing had worked for me - and I was in constant pain. During our first telephone conversation, Rosemary said “please come and see me, I know I can help you”. And within a couple of one-on-one sessions, she did just that ; I was pain free at last.
I then started to attend one of the weekly classes and have been going ever since. I suffer from lower back pain and I know from experience that if I don’t attend Rosemary’s classes regularly, my back gets worse and sciatica

I've spent this whole year going to Rosemary's classes and it really helped me with all my back problems. I've tried chiropractics and different therapies in the past with no luck and this was definitely what I needed. I'm moving away and will miss her loads, she is such a lovely and caring person. Definitely recommend it!

I have been having private Pilate lessons with Rosemary since September as have had lower back pain for sometime due to my S1 route nerve being in contact with my L5, which means I experience nerve pain frequently. However since having these lessons, I am feeling so much better and am now am mostly pain free and look forward to joining her classes again. Rosemary is very attentive towards my needs during sessions. I cannot thank her enough.

I found Rosemary after a lower back injury and lots of other aches and pains after a pelvis problem and two pregnancies. Some private classes and now regular classes have helped me enormously and I have a strength and posture I never thought possible. Rosemary's knowledge goes way beyond Pilates, and her classes are tough, rewarding and fun. I can't recommend her enough.

What can I say really, Rosemary has changed my life. I orginally came to Rosemary due to shoulder/neck pain when cycling (after trying physio etc etc....). I am now experiencing the huge benefits both on and off the bike of what pilates with Rosemary provides. Not only does she have the medical knowledge to back up what she teaches, she also genuinely cares. I can't recommend her more !

I have been doing Rosemary's pilates classes for 6 months and have noticed significant improvements in my posture, core strength and running technique. I am a keen runner and have suffered with persistent injuries in the past. I have been injury free for a few months now thanks to Rosemary's classes.

I have been having Pilates lessons with Rosemary MacDonald for twelve years. I first went to her while I was recovering from a serious illness and she helped me get fit again. I spend a lot of time at a computer and suffer from neck and shoulder problems which Rosemary always knows how to sort out. I go once a week (apart from holidays) and what I like so much is that each lesson is different. I do the same range of exercises most weeks but the order and emphasis changes, depending on Rosemary's assessment of what my body needs that particular week. This is Pilates tailor-made to the individual
