We offer exclusive use of the venue and grounds for your wedding day, and only offer a limited number of weddings per year to ensure that your wedding is special and unique to both you and us.
Priory Barn and its grounds are famous as Cavendish Auction House in BBC's Lovejoy where it was filmed on location for a decade. It is situated on an award winning arable farm 2 miles from the Mediaeval village of Lavenham, another frequently used location for TV and film including Harry Potter. Services
Priory Barn offers an array of opportunities for creating a bespoke wedding day. Ceremonies are held in the licensed barn with seating capacity for 160 guests laid out theatre style. The couple can marry in front of an antique hay wagon on the stage in front of their guests before walking down the aisle and into the courtyard and cart lodge for the drinks reception, whilst the barn is reconfigured and decorated ready for the wedding breakfast.
Priory Barn's double doors open to an enclosed courtyard allowing the perfect setting for drinks receptions and BBQ's. Fully grassed and concrete car parking situated next to the barn offer both convenience on arrival and the opportunity to view wildlife on our farm in surrounding fields. A large fig tree bearing fruit welcomes you through the historic doors of Priory Barn.
Paths to the sunken, country garden lead from the barn past the Mediaeval farmhouse and walled gardens draped with seasonal wisteria, grapevines and honeysuckle. Striped lawns in front of the farmhouse offer a photographic opportunity for the wedding party, also enabling the newly married couple to find peace and stillness in the historic grounds.
For reception only events, the wedding breakfast and celebrations are held in the main barn, with the configuration bespoke to the couple's style using either round or long tables. We can offer ceremonies and vintage afternoon tea receptions for a smaller wedding.
