We're a small family run business based in rural Devon, just outside Okehampton - the gateway to beautiful, rugged Dartmoor. We have a love of the great outdoors, especially Dartmoor and the West Country. And we absolutely love helping people discover this gorgeous part of the world. We're perfectly located to explore Devon and Cornwall but as we're just minutes from the A30, you can be on your way to just about anywhere in no time at all!
We have affectionately named our campervans Boris and Bertha. They are both modern Volkswagen T5.5 campers - so they have the perfect combination of being reliable and easy to drive, coupled with the original spirit of a VW camper. Bertha is a 2014 model Volkswagon T5.5 campervan. She can sleep up to 4 campers - 2 on the lower double bed and 2 (up to a combined max 150 kg) on the double bed in the elevating roof.
Enjoy extra space and comfort in the camper, when all your outdoor equipment, muddy footwear and beach gear is stashed away safely in the awning. We supply the state-of-the-art Vango Kela III AirBeam drive away awning. Unlike traditional peg and pole awnings, the Kela III has inflatable beams, meaning it can be erected in around 10 minutes!
To help with social distancing, we can provide chemical camping toilets and toilet tents as an optional extra. Use our campervans to explore the beautiful West Country or further afield within England, Wales and Scotland. Dartmoor is in the heart of Devon, just a short drive from where you will pick your campervan up from. There's a mixture of stunning, rugged landscapes and some of the most breathtaking views in the country.

We hired Bertha from Devon Campervan Hire for a week in October 2019, with a view to trying one out before we purchased one. Matt was excellent throughout the whole process and made the entire experience very easy from start to finish. As for the van, she took some getting used to at first, but we soon settled into a routine and had a great week in the Cotswolds, even though the weather wasn't great. If you fancy a truly get away from it all break, try it!

Highly recommended, we hired a beautiful T5 camper from Matt, very clean, nice to drive and had all we needed inside for me, my wife and daughter to enjoy a lovely long weekend in North Devon.
Matt was very pleasant and nothing was to much trouble, I did ask lots of questions initially and Matt responded quickly with all the information that I required.
We arrived at Matts beautiful house with a warm greeting and the paperwork and van familiarisation was done in no time and completely hassle free, before we knew it we were on the road.
We wouldn't hesitate to use Devon Camper Hire again and

We hired Bertha camper van for a 5 night stay during Glastonbury and she was everything we hoped for. Matt showed us how everything worked before we set off and the whole hiring process was very straightforward. The camper van is fully equipped for self catering including pots, pans, kettle, crockery and electric hook up and gas for the stove. The bed is very comfortable and we enjoyed a sound sleep each night. There are also two fold away chairs which were very useful. We had a wonderful Glastonbury experience and were very comfortable in the camper van, we would definitely recommend this hire
