Did the New Year package.
Staff was excellent as was the food.
We had a room in the main building which was good.
Only moan was the DJ could have been more with it as the midnight hour approached.

Expensive for what it is, probably paying a prremium for the river side location. Service was not good in the restaurant, maybe they were having a bad day/night or had staff shortages but I wouldnt go back. Room was fine though.

A pretty setting next to the river and the tea was really nice. Delicious sandwiches which had lovely soft bread, the cakes were exceptionally good, our waiter was very friendly too. The only downside were the scones which were hard and not very pleasant.

We stayed one night, were charged £135 for a room in shocking condition and left very disappointed.
Good points:
- food was good. We had dinner and breakfast and the meals were tasty and reasonable value
- most of the staff did appear to be trying to deliver a good service
- the beds were comfortable and the bedding was clean and in good condition
Bad points:
1.we complained when leaving and asked for a response from the manager. Nearly three weeks later they have not seen fit to respond so we must assume they consider this acceptable!
2. Their advertised food service times are a work of

Absolutely delightful place adjacent to the River Trent.
Dates back as a mill in Norman times.
Afternoon tea was excellent and really filling and the staff were superb.
Had a memorable Sunday afternoon.

I booked an afternoon tea on 18 Sept for a birthday treat for 8 adults and 2 children aged 5 and 8. On booking I'd asked would it be best for me to bring my own food for the children but was advised that a children's menu would be arranged but it wasn't. They received the same food as everyone else. It was all very disappointing, nothing special, and the children were really upset after being told they would have a "special tea" !!! They never even received a drink. And the best bit?..A bill of £189.50 for a very mediocre snack. Needless to say we definitely won't return

Great service from staff. Lovely building but needs some work done on it. Fusty smelling room, extractor not working, constant dripping shower, executive room felt more like a standard double, only had one mirror which was in bathroom

Lovely place to stay. Booked for 3 nights with a small dog and given a room in a building separate to the main hotel opposite the stream, where we watched a kingfisher catching fish. Room was absolutely lovely. Tastefully decorated with TV, tea and coffee making facilities and toiletries. Towels could be changed upon request and additional tea and coffee available at reception. Bed really comfy. Didn't get chance to use the restaurant as dogs not permitted. Lots of parking and seats next to river and a lovely quite setting. Manager very pleasant and helpful. Outdoor steps to room and outdoor walkway

A nice public house as well as hotel set on the banks of The River Derwent ( I think). A bit pricy though. Great in the summer months sitting outside watching the world float by.

Set on the river banks and tucked away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, this can make for a really quiet evening/ week end. There is accomadation available here in the main hotel and you can also rent a tradiional cottage here too. It is pricey but offers do come up from time to time.
It is also a good spot to call in and have a drnk/ something to eat in the afternoon or evening.
Summer months see lots of weddings at the week ends so if you are looking for accomadation- book early!
Well worth a visit and located near the quaint village of Castle Donnington where you will find a healthy
