There are many reasons why you might be thinking about counselling or therapy, from dealing with difficult life events to feeling overwhelmed by difficult feelings that seem to have little obvious cause. I am a trained and qualified counsellor and psychotherapist with over 20 years experience of working with a wide variety of difficulties and in a number of settings including the NHS, charitable sector and higher education.
I work from quiet, discreet premises in north St Albans with off-street parking. Please feel free to call me direct on 01727 752147 or email me to arrange an initial consultation. It may well be that you are responded to by ansaphone in the first instance, but do please leave a message and I will respond as soon as I can.

An Initial Consultation can be arranged to talk through your difficulties, and for us to think through together what might be most helpful for you at this point. This initial meeting will last for 50 minutes and allows us time to discuss any concerns you may have in more detail. We will also discuss whether long or short term counselling might be more appropriate, and matters such as the timing and frequency of any further sessions, fees etc.
Psychotherapy and counselling involves a confidential relationship between therapist and client. You may be considering counselling because you want to understand yourself and your relationships better - either personally or in your workplace; or you may be considering talking about something painful or difficult that you have been struggling with for some time.
Sometimes it is useful to attend therapy as a couple in order to address difficulties between you in a supportive and neutral environment. Sessions can help you understand your relationship from another perspective, and help you to discuss difficult feelings, different values or expectations with the help of a trained therapist.
I have over 15 years experience of supervising therapists at all stages of their professional development from those still in training, to those who have been practising for several years. I place a particular emphasis on providing a safe, thoughtful and containing space in which to explore your own thinking and practice in order to work more insightfully and effectively.
I now specialize particularly in the psychological impact of cancer and rare diseases, including genetic conditions. I am Founder and Director of Counselling Services for 2 rare disease charities AMEND and NET Patient Foundation, providing an innovative integrated approach to 'Living With' cancer and chronic related conditions using zoom/WhasApp and telephone counselling.
