Podiatry is a medical specialism focusing on the medical and surgical treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle and associated structures. Podiatrists have to undergo rigorous medical training at a University which offers a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree. There are only 13 Podiatric Medical Schools attached to major Universities in the UK.
In order to practice in the UK Podiatrists must first pass the degree and register with The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Based in Wantage, Oxfordshire, we offer a huge range of Chiropody Services and Specialist Podiatry in Oxfordshire and surrounding areas. We offer specialist assessment, diagnostic ultra sound imaging, treatments such as injection therapies and specialist orthotics for plantar fasciitis.

People with diabetes are prone to foot problems, often developing from a combination of poor circulation and nerve damage. A poor circulation can delay healing and increase your risks of infection. If left untreated, minor foot injuries can result in ulceration. Damage to the nerves in the legs and feet diminishes skin sensation, making it difficult to detect or notice pain or temperature changes.
It is suggested that up to 30% of the population suffers from fungal skin infection in the feet. This infection can affect any part of the foot, and in some cases will spread to other parts of the body. Our skin is covered in a natural layer of fungi called dermatophytes. These live on our skin naturally, however, when provided with the right conditions, these can multiply and become uncomfortable.
Injection therapies are widely used in medicine and surgery for a variety of joint and soft tissue conditions. When clinically appropriate they can be used as part of a wider treatment plan to help relieve pain and inflammation. Injections can be performed under local anaesthetic and ultrasound guidance.
The Hartland Podiatry Clinic offers a comprehensive Orthopaedic and Paediatric Assessment in relation to foot, ankle and knee problems. Subsequent Treatment Plans vary depending on what conditions are identified. Orthotics (sometimes referred to as insoles) may well be prescribed as part of that plan.
Dermal fillers comprise of Hyaluronic Acid (HA). This acid occurs naturally within the body and is present in the skin, joints and eyes. It is hydrophilic, which means it attracts water molecules to 'plump' up, cushion and keep structures supple and flexible. It is a natural substance which in time naturally breaks down.

Over the moon! I had long term fungus on 7 toenails and had tried for years to get rid of it. Paul was very professional and advised a 3-prong attack using oral medication, laser treatment and fungal solution. Every visit was was a step in the right direction. Paul has just tested my nails and I am cured. I couldn't speak highly enough of his approach and manner. Thank you.
