You could say that's where we were born and yes, we're very proud of our more than humble beginnings. When Tim Banks our founder and MD was made redundant from his job, after gathering himself together he came up with the name and the idea.

In 1975, an electrician named Matti Viio lost his cool because his work clothes simply weren't good enough. Several times he had suggested modifications to the clothes he had to work in, but no one listened. In the end, he lost his temper and became really angry: One day I went home from work and designed my own workwear!

Fristads have been making high-quality workwear since 1925. Founded in the village of Fristads near Boras, Sweden, they have grown to be a major brand in the sector. In the 20's workwear was not available in Sweden, so John Magnusson grabbed the opportunity to exploit an open marketplace. By 1929, Magnusson's company was the first to make jeans.
