In 1815, cousins Frederick Fothringham and John Lindsay, two 22-year-olds from Forfarshire, set up a law firm at 80 George Street, in Edinburgh. Over two hundred years later, the firm still proudly bears the Lindsay name. Some of our earliest clients are still with us, including the Lochiel and Argyll estates.
We also work for the descendants of Frederick Fothringham. However, our 21st-century landed estate clients are more likely to seek our advice on renewable energy, commercial property or holiday lets than ask us to collect their rents in cash. Much else has altered over the past 200 years. We've grown from two partners to 41 partners and now offer a full range of legal services to businesses, families and individuals.

Court accepts informal form of notice for commercial lease in recent tacit relocation case. Commercial landlords and tenants should note from this decision that if either party wishes to end a lease it's advisable for written notice to be sen. The Court of Session's appeal decision on renegotiating telecoms leases may lead to more requests from telecoms operators for site providers to agree.
Staff at Lindsays receive a good benefits package, including a competitive salary and annual leave package. Working in a mid-size firm like ours means our lawyers deal with a wide range of clients - from international investors to family businesses or individuals.
Our way of working with clients emphasises flexibility, service and understanding their all-round needs, so there is scope to develop strong client relationships and to work on interesting issues. The firm's style of working is collegiate and positive. We may have been around for over 200 years, but there are no wood-panelled offices or old-fashioned hierarchies here.

Critical: Professionalism, Responsiveness
I called them to hire a solicitor, they took my details and said they would call me back. I was waiting for their call but it never happened and by the time I managed to get another solicitor (different company) the property I wanted to put an offer on was under offer. I don't recomend this company

I feel shocked and dissapointed that Lindsays would not investigate when the ligitimasy of the sale of 20 Stanley Road was questioned. I feel devastated at the loss of a beautiful and established housing co-op. Established in 1970 and becoming a womens co-op in 1980 this is a tragic loss for the co-operative movement especially when people need community and decent living spaces more than ever. A rushed sale and an unwilingness to wait for investigation by the FCA is dissapointing and unsettling to say the least. Lindsays has demonstrated only an interested in profit and no interest in the community

Don't sell Auchinleck/ 20 stanley Road!!!
A historical women's coop stablished in 1980s is up for sell... This will destroy the oportunity for others to live in there for a fair rent, and to also create a positive impact within the community. All neighbours are against this! You are helping demolish the work of around 200 women that lived there and helped to build that community. Stop this sell!!!

I had a fall in Edinburgh and spent a week in hospital with a broken hip. I got in touch with Lindsey's to put a claim in against the council, as I live in co durham England I was glad I got solicitor in Scotland. My solicitor was called Sarah Jane skellett she got everything done in no time and got me a great settlement that I didn't expect. Couldn't fault them at all. I would recommend them to anyone .
