Services
The Atlantis Bookshop was established in 1922 by magicians, for magicians. It is the birth-place of modern witchcraft, with Gerald Gardner holding regular coven meetings in the basement of the Shop. The Atlantis Bookshop is owned by Bali and Geraldine Beskin, a mother and daughter partnership. They are proud to be 3rd and 4th generation practitioners and multi-generation booksellers.
How many people can say they were taught magic by their grandmother? Geraldine and Bali can both claim that as they are 3rd and 4th generation practitioners of the Artes Occultique. It is fashionable nowadays to say your grandmother was a witch - Bali's was, and plenty of people still remember her with great affection.
The Atlantis Bookshop was set up by magicians for magicians and we have kept it that way. It was founded in 1922 by Michael Houghton, a young Jewish lad full of drive, poetry, Theosophy and Magic and his great friend Paul Brunton. Michael Houghton ran The Atlantis Bookshop successfully until his death in the early 1960's.
We have plenty of books on practical alchemy and the results the contemporary alchemists are getting are impressive. Spiritual alchemy - where we perfect ourselves and transmute from base lead into golden spiritual beings - is a very rewarding road to travel. The armchair historian will be really spoilt for choice as the biographies alone make fascinating reading.
Crowley is a man everyone has an opinion of even if what they are saying is 100 years out-of-date. Love him or loathe him, the intellect of the man cannot be disputed and his influence on society in the 1960's hippie days, on Punk and beyond continues as his famous Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

After visiting British Museum for whole day, our family walked to this bookshop and feel very impressive . When went inside, we could feel special atmosphere about this nearly 100 years of service. I like the motto of this shop “The Living History of Magic” and “by magicians, for magicians”. If you like the astrology, magic, and esoteric science, do not miss this place.

The store was beautiful, the books were simply amazing and I totally recommend paying a visit to this bookstore.
However, I do feel I need to share this rather awkward experience I had a couple of years ago that left me speechless.
I had always wanted to visit the bookshop so once I did I really wanted to see it all! I was ready to make some purchases and after I spent a good while browsing, I had a few mental notes of which books I wanted to get.
The staff who was there asked multiple times if I was looking for anything in particular but I actually wasn’t, I was just looking around with so
