Great Tey Church of England (Controlled) Primary School is a small, friendly community school just outside Colchester. At Great Tey, it is our strong belief that children learn best when they are happy, calm and engaged and we strive to give children experiences and opportunities which will engage their interest, creating an environment which allows every child to flourish and achieve to the best of their ability.
Children here are well supported by a fantastic team of teachers and teaching assistants. Our children often say that "school feels like a family" - a reflection of the values of cooperation, support, acceptance and friendship that we seek to promote. I feel very privileged to be the Headteacher of Great Tey Primary School: to be responsible for each child's welfare, education and happiness is something I take very seriously.

I am very happy with my son's progress at Great Tey. I think it is a brilliant little school, my son has settled here very well and is always happy to go to school. It is clear the school is run by a Head that wants the best for all children. My daughter has loved school since the day she started. As parents it is so nice/reassuring for us to know that she attends a school that provides such fantastic care and education.
100% of KS2 pupils and 84% of EYFS / KS1 pupils said they enjoy being at school ( 3 pupils in EYFS / KS1 weren't sure and 1 said no, he likes being at home with mummy.) What I like about school is that I've got a lot of friends and if I'm worried they help me. What I like about Gt. Tey Primary School is that you can always talk to a teacher if you're stuck or have a problem.
We wish to promote positive attitudes in children, staff, governors and parents so that children can fulfill their potential and make choices, unhampered by expectations based on gender or stereotyping. We seek to fulfil the aims of the school regardless of age, gender, ability, ethnic origin or background of the child.
Great Tey Church of England Primary School serves its community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian beliefs and practice. It encourages an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith and promotes Christian values through the experience it offers to all its children, whilst ensuring that we reflect and celebrate the backgrounds and faiths of all.
Pupil Premium is additional funding received by schools for each pupil from disadvantaged families or background. It's allocated to schools based on the number of children who come from low-income families - this is defined as those who are currently known to be eligible for free school meals (FSM).

My child will be starting school in September here and I cannot be more pleased. There is a new Headmistress whom has turned this school around after all the negative press over the last few years. The staff are wonderful there and my child is very much looking forward to starting. I would ignore the negative comments below as this is in the past. New start for everyone!!
