The staff were excellent ensuring we were made to feel very special. The sommelier was very knowledgeable and provided us with full details of all the matching wines we had with each course. To put it simply we had a fantastic evening with superb food. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a special evening.

This place is simply fabulous! It isn't just the exceptional, delicious and utterly delightful food, it's the atmosphere, the ambience, the truly lovely interesting and intelligent team of people...and it's so easy to be here, no stiffness no awkwardness, no formality, it is simply lovely. It feels as if everyone who works here loves the place. It all adds to the wonderful experience. We had the lunch tasting menu and as I said before the food is exceptional. It was faultless. Skilfully flavoured. Beautifully presented. It was worth the long journey and I'm sure we will return. Thank you Box Tree

My partner and I had the vegetarian tasting menu at The Box Tree (photo of the menu attached). Whilst the service was great and the staff were attentive, the food really wasn't good. The croquette was the only enjoyable dish - albeit fairly basic. The veloute was mediocre. The remaining 4 courses were well below par for any restaurant, let alone for a gourmet dining experience.
Each course (in particular the heritage beetroot dish and jersey royal potato dish) was bland, largely flavourless and lacked imagination. The vanilla panna cotta was just fine. The apricot souffle was done well, with a

I visited this restaurant three years ago the birthday celebrations and although expensive had a very good experience.
Returned recently for my husband's 60th birthday, they required a ÂŁ25.00 p.p. deposit and we made the booking. A few days before the booking l received a email reminding us of booking and also a menu , which l must say was a dissapointing surprise. It was a tasting menu without any choice what so ever.
We went for the meal and had the various courses, some of the food was to our taste some was not.
The service was excellent but for a total bill of over ÂŁ200.00. Without a bottle

Amazing food here. We booked in to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. The ambience felt exclusive, and even though they were busy (table of 20 upstairs) you felt like you were dining in a small, intimate restaurant. We opted for A La Carte because the chocolate dessert wasn't on the set menu. The food was divine, service was spot on, and we would happily go back again and again.

OH Lord how I love a Michelin Star restaurant! Whether it be one star, two star or the illustrious three- there is a reason for these stars and it comes down to the 'Dining Experience'. I have dined at many one to three star Michelin Star restaurants and I have never been disappointed. Not that I am going by other people's words who are the PROFESSIONALS but by the quality of presentation, food knowledge, service and the sense of proper restaurant etiquette.
My relatives that live in Ilkley told me about the Box Tree and it was literally a couple blocks away. Since I had a free

An adorable house just off the town center. One feels as though dinner is being served in in a relatively wealthy person's home rather than the best restaurant in town! We like the feeling!

First class. Beautifully treated - gentle, low key, hospitality. Very comfortable, yet opulent, decor. Small, intimate restaurant. Food superb. The raspberry soufflé is the best pudding I've ever eaten. More significantly, it's the best pudding my Mum's ever eaten. I can't wait to find a restaurant better than this.

We went to the Box Tree as a birthday treat for my Grandmother. From the moment of arriving we were treated with impeccable service which followed throughout the meal (and even after when my nan realised she had left her walking stick).
The house is beautiful and super cosy on a cold winters day. We ate the set menu which was lovely but I was jealous of neighbouring diners who were eating the taster menu which looked fantastic.
A great restaurant with possibly the best service ever.

Right on the outskirts of the main Grove and high street of the traditional town of Ilkley the Box Tree is well known as being THE place to dine at. The Box Tree is almost the Ivy of Ilkley, however there aren't any paparazzi outside and the clientele are a little more wrinkly.
Many say they are disappointed with the Box Tree after dining here. Maybe this is because the restaurant is so very hyped up and pricey, nevertheless I didn't feel negatively about parting with the money for a sophisticated meal out! Plus it made a nice change from Nando's!

I left The Box Tree feeling very disappointed that this is supposedly one of the best restaurants the North of England has to offer. Simon Gueller's venture has held one Michelin star since 2005 but I couldn't help feeling that it would be completely ignored were it located in London. Set in the charming market town of Ilkley on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, The Box Tree is a warren of cosy, intimate dining rooms but seems to be blinded by its accolades and heritage (this is where Marco Pierre White began his training). Firstly, the menu is over-priced. Some of the dishes here are

If you like your dining mighty fine, then the Box Tree is the sort of place that will interest you - voted the best place to eat in Yorkshire and previously an employer of Marco Pierre White, it is definitely more Michelin than McDonald's.
In the affluent town of Ilkley, a place like this is not out of place - inside the beautiful old building is a simple but elegant decor and some highly professional and attentive service in a husband-wife run business.
The food itself is imaginative without being ridiculous - think classic European with contemporary twists - think venison, veal, pigeon
