What happens if I fail the mod 1 test, will I continue with the rest of the course or be sent away? How much will you charge me if I fail mod 1 and or mod 2 for retests and further instruction? If having started the "course" I am riding to a test standard within the first day will I be able to get a refund on the training I paid for and did not need?
CBT was introduced in 1990 in an effort to reduce the accident rate among learner riders. It is not a test but a structured training course designed to introduce the novice rider to all aspects of owning and riding a motorcycle. The only requirement is that you hold a valid provisional or full car licence.
As long as you have a valid CBT & Theory test certificate you can book your Mod 1 & Mod 2 Tests and complete the tests on your own bike. Providing it is road legal, displaying 'L' plates front and rear and is the correct size and category for your age. Motorcycle schools only do training and take you up to the government test centre, the same as car instructors.
Module 1 is an off road motorcycle test. The motorbike test consists of slow riding skills such as slalom figure of 8 and U turn. Also the hazard avoidance and emergency stop exercise. There has been a lot of bad press about this motorcycle test but it is really easy!
Also separating the manoeuvres out from the on road test (Module 2) allows you to concentrate on your road riding without worrying about the manoeuvres that were previously done on road. With us you will practice on the same site as you will take the module 1 test using the same speed measuring equipment and format.

Module 2 is the on-road module and normally takes about 40 minutes. You must bring your module 1 pass certificate to module 2, plus all the documents you had to bring to the module 1 test. The vehicle will be at least 20 metres away if it has a new-style number plate, and 20.5 metres away if it has an old-style number plate.

Richard is insightful, fair, practical, and very knowledgeable about all things motorbike and scooter related. He gave me the confidence and the skills to successfully and confidently complete my CBT.
The course was several hours (9-4) and the group size was small enough to get one-on-one advice and attention throughout most of the day.
