Gentle introduction to course. Make sure you hit the green with the approach shot; probably the smallest green on the course. Toughest hole on the course. If you cannot get home in two then aim at right hand greenside bunker and play for chip and putt. Good tee shot will still leave a challenging approach which should be just inside the left hand green side bunker.
It has long been recognized that the two courses at Ipswich Golf Club are not just a beautiful setting in which to play golf but they are also superb sites for wildlife. Many different habitat types can be found on the estate, including heathland, acid grassland, wetlands, lakes and woodland. This variety supports a wealth of different species of flora and fauna within a relatively small area.
On your arrival, our friendly team will be on hand to welcome you to our newly refurbished clubhouse lounge which offers extensive views over the Purdis Heath course. The veranda is a perfect spot to relax on a sunny day overlooking the 18th green. We also have the non-members bar (where golf shoes can be worn) with great views looking out over the 1st hole; the perfect place to grab a coffee before teeing off!
The club was founded in 1895 on common land at nearby Rushmere Heath. It was not until 31 years later that legendary golf course architect James Braid designed the course at its present site at Purdis Heath. A large gallery of spectators gathered to watch the event, including a Daily Telegraph reporter who was struck by 'this beautiful heath and heathery course.'
Your team showed that we had a seamless four days at the Club nothing was a problem, and feedback from those that played was very positive. Almost every single player commented on the presentation, the attention to detail and the putting surfaces on the club. The staff have been amazing throughout the entire tournament.
