Services
For most of its existence, the Grade II listed building that is now home to the Ferry House Lodge was known as The Market House Tavern. It was built sometime between 1840-1850 and started out as one of many licenced houses owned by the Pike Spicer Brewery. Pike Spicer brewed beer in Portsmouth for nearly two hundred years between the early 1700?s and 1910 when the company merged with Brickwoods.
You can check-in any time from 2:00pm until late. If you think you may arrive some time after 6pm, please let us know so that our evening staff are prepared for your arrival. We ask that you check out by 10:30am to allow us to prepare the room thoroughly for the next guest. We may be able to allow you a later check out of 11:00am, but this is by prior arrangement only and offered on a 'first-come, first-served' basis.
Nothing sets you up better for a day travelling, sightseeing or shopping than a good breakfast. It's also pretty good if you're facing a day of meetings at work. Breakfast is served between 7am and 9.30am - last orders for cooked breakfast are at 9.45am. A good selection of popular breakfast cereals and museli, served with ice cold milk - or we'll warm it for you if you prefer.
Our rooms are arranged over three floors, and come in a variety of shapes and sizes, as you would expect with an older building. Not for us the sterile, standard layout of a modern hotel block! Each room has its own individual touch - we've had fun selecting lovely light fittings, interesting prints and character furniture to compliment the space.

From the outside looks pretty derelict but it has the normal amenities of a decent lodge.
Its a place for those who want a cheaper acommodation and can accept an old feeling .
The guy who is responsible for taking care of the guests is a good person and help you with everything you might need.
The room where we were guests was pretty decent(without kitchen, but still you have small table where you can eat if you buy food from the outside) with clean bed sheets and usual soaps and towels and also some coffe and teas and the bathroom was like new but it might be improved a bit on account of the

Hotel is a great location for the international ferry port. But that's not all this place has. The owner/manager was super welcoming as soon as we walked in. The room was great. Heater and fans provided in the room.
The bed was really comfy and had a great night's sleep. The shower was hot and powerful.
The cooked breakfast was great. Really nice toast.
