Blissfully quiet and away from it all, Birches Mill Cottages are tucked into a secluded valley in the South Shropshire Hills, just three miles from the pretty village of Clun, and a short drive from historic Ludlow.

The 17th century former corn-mill has provided the perfect refuge from city life for owners Andrew and Gill and, using their backgrounds in art and design, they have tastefully converted it to two comfortable country cottages, ideal for rest and relaxation. The surrounding countryside is outstandingly beautiful and rich in birds and wildlife - a unique and unspoilt retreat we hope you can share.
Services
The Miller's Cottage is our larger cottage, comfortable for either one couple with a child or friend, or for two singles preferring separate bedrooms. The cottage has white painted stone walls, honey-coloured beams and original mill ironwork, and is furnished in a tasteful and relaxed country style.
Home-cooked meals use our own organic garden and local produce and we deliver them to your cottage door for you to reheat. Here are a few examples of our seasonal specials that we add to our menu throughout the year. Please ask what is available when you place your food order. We grow organic fruit and vegetables in our garden at Birches Mill and we make jams and chutneys from much of the produce.
The cottages are located on a country lane in the Unk Valley. The River Unk and the bridge that crosses the river are just a stone's throw away. The Unk Valley is between the village of Clun, 3 miles to the south and the small market town of Bishop's Castle, 5 miles to the north. Travel past Bishop's Castle on the A488 towards Clun.
Clun is our picturesque local village with a medieval bridge and friendly pubs. The small market town of Bishop's Castle has gift and book shops and two breweries, one of which is the classic tower brewery The Three Tuns. A thirty minute drive away is Ludlow, often called 'the perfect historic town' with nearly 500 listed buildings.

Utterly idyllic location and beautiful well equipped cottage including the most comfortable bed ! Owners are really helpful and welcoming, we stayed over Christmas and Andy and Gill had decorated the cottage , was so cozy with the log burner. Stunning walks everywhere but only half an hour to historic and fascinating Ludlow , shoppers paradise ! Loved every minute, and will definitely be back. Thankyou so much Andy and Gill

We had a fabulous stay in The Millers Cottage here at Birches Mill. Andrew and Gill are great hosts, available when you need them but otherwise invisible. The cottage was really well appointed and comfortable abd the bed was glorious after long days walking the Shropshire Hills.
We would highly recommend this as a great place to stay, to relax and unwind and enjoy the beautiful countryside.
