Hello welcome to Jenson & Ledingham I'm Bill the owner & principle optometrist at J&L, the oldest established Opticians in Aberdeen. Optometry has evolved over the years and as such we offer many specialised services other than routine sight testing and fitting contact lenses. In addition to carrying out your examination and ensuring your eye health our Optometrist will be present to review the results of Digital Retinal Photography and Visual Field Assessments. Our experienced Optical Assistants are always available to assist in the dispensing of your prescription and suitable frame and lens options.
Myopia is the clinical term for short sightedness. The eyeball is too long or the focusing too strong causing objects in the distance to appear blurred Generally it develops at an early age and progresses unchecked over time. Myopia is what we usually refer to as short sight. It develops when we are young and frequently progresses until mid to late teens.
1 in 4 children struggle with reading because of undiagnosed or undetected vision problems which are rarely related to eyesight. They lack adequate visual skills needed for close up work during reading, writing, and computer tasks. Frequently, children's symptoms are attributed to problems such as ADHD or learning disabilities when the source of their problems in the classroom is often undiagnosed visual problems.
When you wear contact lenses it is important that your eyes are checked regularly to ensure they remain healthy and you always have the optimum lenses for your eyes. After an initial consultation with Bill and trial of glasses we decided to try vision therapy for our son (aged 10). The week of vision therapy was quite intensive and very tiring for my son but Bill was always very friendly, professional and supportive. We followed this up by carrying out daily eye exercises at home. We are a year on and the difference in my son is quite remarkable. Bill could see this with various eye tests but we see it in his reading ability and he no longer has sore eyes while trying to read.,
