The Artisan business was originally launched in 1986 with a view to offering a complete fire and fireplace service, displaying every fire and fireplace imaginable, backed by old fashion service as it used to be, a rare commodity nowadays, but one we have so obviously successfully achieved. By 1990 we had fireplace showrooms in Cleckheaton, Huddersfield, Bradford, Wakefield and Leeds.
We had taken advantage of the demise of all the British Gas retail showrooms and had grown rapidly, installing up to 150 fireplaces every week for home customers and the new house build sector. In 2002 we purchased an old derelict mill at Brighouse and transformed it into what it is now, Europe's largest heating centre of excellence.

I bought a house in this area earlier this year. I inherited a gas fire from this company. The fire, a log burner looking gas fire did work at first and didn't half through some heat out. However, it wasn't on during the summer and when I put it on this October it wasn't working. My gas engineer told me I needed a part but as I had no manual, I contacted the people at Artisan who were fantastic. A lady called Liz, contacted the manufacturer for me and got back to me with the serial number. I bought the part and my gas engineer fitted but only to find I had another faulty part. I once again contacted

Great Service.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. All appointments after that were as planned from the chimney inspection to fluetech who prepared the chimney.
Craig and Harry the fitters were brilliant. Spent 10 hours fitting and making sure it was perfect. Very happy with the end result.
Highly recommended!

The stone hearth had broken in the first month which Artisan claim was due to the stone being stood on! The photos illustrate that this was because the front of the hearth was not touching the floor: a ruler could be slid from one side to the other 16" under the 15" deep. The limestone hearth is 150cm wide and 3cm thick: which cracked because it was not unsupported. No supports on the back part.
The photos illustrate how is was installed on a pile of loose rubble, on a base which had a 16cm drop underneath, to the ceiling of the cellar. To make matters worse he chiseled out a great big chunk of

Worst customer service you could imagine from the managing director and I assume this is why they have the reviews feature on Facebook switched off.
To be fair, the fire looked decent and was a reasonable price; the only issue to begin with was the salesman had told me the incorrect dimensions. In the showroom the dimensions are not on display and as the fire on display is recessed into the wall, there is no way of measuring the depth so had to take his word for it. When the fire arrived, the dimensions were different and this is where the hassle began.
Contacted the managing director to be immediately
