Stress appears to be the common feature in most people who come to my office; whether a cause or consequence, stress can take a significant toll on the body (hindering the immune system and debilitating vital biological systems) as well as the mind - often comes attached to feelings of helplessness and uncontrolled spiralling.
In its natural context, stress is a healthy and effective response. However, when stress becomes unfounded or chronic, it may evolve into, or be sign of more serious conditions such as depression, anxiety, issues with sleep, alcohol, food or relationships.

I qualified as a psychologist in the 1980's, specialising in Social Psychology, Systemic Therapies and Therapy of Organisations.
My education covered the different studies, theories and understandings of the mind; how the mind grows and develops with age, and how to motivate, measure and recruit for particular roles; I also learned how to educate and school the human mind and the contribution of different factors such as genetics, environment, experiences and individual understanding.

Independently of its neuro-scientific definition, psychological studies tend to notice a state of more permeability of the conscious mechanisms.

I was unaware that these issues were still affecting me on a subconscious level, but making that discovery and working on unravelling those issues, resolving them and moving on from them has changed my life. She has also empowered me by giving me the tools to deal with any new issues that I might face
