Services
If a patient requests an emergency appointment you may be asked by the receptionist the reason for the visit as it may be more appropriate to send you directly to the hospital emergency department. If you insist on seeing the doctor on the same day you may have to wait up to one hour to see the doctor.
Home visits can be requested by telephone, preferably before 10.00am. Visits are done after afternoon surgery. The receptionist will ask you about your illness to help the Doctor plan the priority and urgency of the visit. The doctor may phone you before the visit to assess the need of the visit, please leave your phone number with the receptionist.
Patients are reminded that hospital reports and results of tests can take up to two weeks to reach the practice. Some results can take longer and the doctor or nurse will usually have advised you of this at the time the test was undertaken. The practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection.
We will process repeat prescriptions within 48 hours. To order a repeat prescription, complete the tear off slip attached to your last prescription and hand it or post it to the surgery. You may also order your prescription online by using the Systmonline app. If you have not had a medicine for some time, the doctor may require you to make an appointment before prescribing the medication.
We would like to know how we can improve our service to you. To help us with this, we have set up a patient representation group so that you can have your say. We need young people, workers, retirees, people with long term conditions and people from non-British ethnic groups. We will ask the members of this representative group some questions from time to time.

Nurse Jenifer is the best staff member in this surgery. She is very kind, patient, professional, lovely and friendly. She is always cooperative and helpful. I would give her 10 stars if I can.
The reception staff, on the other hand are very rude, aggressive and careless. They are the worst staff I have ever seen. I would give them minus stars if I can.

Appointments are much easier to get at birkby health centre compared to some other neighbouring practices and i learnt that the hard way when registered with my old neighbouring practice where it used to take me literally 5 weeks to get seen by a GP.
Appreciate the lady manager at the practice, Visited last week and saw some faces which were very polite and welcoming. Could do with a bigger car park for my wheelchair accessible mini van. Thank you and happy new year

So called assistant manager Zohaib Isa is extremely rude and abusive to everyone over the phone, he has no people or customer service skills! We all need to report this appalling health centre to NHS Greater Huddersfield CCG (totally agree with other reviewers on this) Who will investigate thoroughly and how he was fraudulently employed at this practice by the Singh's.
Using Covid as an excuse for everything and refusing to book appointments for my mum! who was in a lot of pain. also taking over 4 weeks to process repeat prescriptions! apparently he is busier than the ICU wards at the hospital

I don't normally leave comments on internet but today i had to make an exception due to the outstanding service i recieved from this particular establishment. Depsite the negligence on my part, Manager of the practice (can't remember the name) went out of her way to sort it out for me and rang me a few times within 3 hours just to keep me in the loop. I actually felt cared for and informed. Haven't been to the practice for a while due to ongoing covid restrictions but staff at the front desk and GPs are always helpfull and polite. Thank you all and thank you NHS

I was given incorrect information from a receptionist regarding obtaining an emergency prescription,i then managed to obtain by dialling 101. Vented my frustration at receptionist lack of knowledge next visit. Clearly she had lied so reported practice to nhs and then received letter of apology from practice manager saying better training will be given regarding obtaining emergency prescriptions. Never swore just told her she needed training again as the info she had given me was incorrect and could have been costly.
I've also booked in at the desk pre covid...waited 45mins....gone to ask the receptionist

This dishonest and fraudulent "Health Practice" seriously needs shutting down by the NHS England.
Most 5 star reviews are left by the manager and receptionist of this practice! and this will also be proven in the court of law.
And the practice manager have the tendency to claim all other 1 star reviews and patients are not registered with this practice!!!
Most people prefer to review this practice anonymously as the corrupt staff and practice manger have full access to their medical records and they can abuse it however they want!
What legal action will you take? Let's see! We the 3000+ patients

Disgusting surgery..!! My mum has been unwell for the past 5 days and still not inviting her to the surgery.my mum said she's in pain and the receptionist was extremely rude. Again my mum is suffering because these careless people don't care. They don't care if you are suffering. They made my mum walk to there surgery who currently struggles to walk and is extremely breathless.. lucky she lives around corner but still she was struggling because these lazy careless people don't care..👎

Yet again I feel I have to write another review, I am totally horrified with the injustice of some of the reviews. The reception staff at Birkby Surgery are amazing, they go out of their way to be helpful, I can imagine it's very hard for front of line staff to correlate and prioritise each patient according to their needs, I myself could not get an appointment one day, but I understand, that someone had priority over my concerns, that is understandable and I was totally fine about it, have trust in the reception staff, I can guarantee they will have had considerable amount of training, which will

I really don't recommend this Centre. I guess the receptionist seriously needs some training to learn how to respect people. She was saying to me to find another Clinic if I'm unhappy with her rude behaviour. Did she think she is offering free service? Not only I paid health surcharge but also paying tax and national insurance. I guess whatever her culture is, she needs to understand that this is UK; things are different.
