Services
Rockley is a family run business established in 1976, run by husband and wife team, Peter and Lis Gordon. Peter and Lis are assisted by some of the most experienced and qualified watersports staff in the country! We pride ourselves on having created sailing centres based in some ofthe most beautiful parts of Europe and our aim is always to offer outstanding training and family holiday experiences.
Yep, that's me. Apart from a brief stint of 5 months 10 days as an accountant (no, I didn't fail, I just saw the light out of the window one day) I have been at Rockley since I was 13. Having taken a "year out" from "competitive sailing" and doing any coaching due to an injury sustained whilst doing an extreme sport fell over whilst skiing.
Rockley Adventure offers a safe, secure and happy setting for young people to experience a residential trip away from home. We offer diverse learning experiences which empower young people to take on new challenges and succeed outside the classroom. During a Rockley Adventure trip students will develop knowledge, understanding, resilience, teamwork and a sense of pride in undertaking new challenges.
For so many young people, a residential school activity trip is the highlight of their year. For some, it will be the first time a young person has stayed away from their family and such a positive, fun and engaging experience will go a long way in improving a child's confidence and self esteem.
During a Rockley Adventure school trip, students will develop knowledge, understanding, resilience, teamwork and a sense of pride in undertaking new challenges and believe that such opportunities as part of their education can enhance their progress in learning.Relating these exciting experiences to classroom subjects and teaching in a more creative environment also increases learner engagement and produces positive outcomes.

Well planned, high quality residential experiences are invaluable in terms of their outcomes, and it is often these kind of 'out of the ordinary, ' high-impact events which heightens a young person's desire for learning and builds both confidence and achievement. Outside learning is far more effective when integrated into your school's curriculum and ethos and when such learning is reinforced back in the classroom.

We phoned this place in advance and was told they dont take advance bookings, just turn up and go. So we arrived nice and early and we were told they have no boats available, and no staff available. Maybe available on wednesday. Maybe availability at the weekend.
Maybe try somewhere else. Not impressed

Knowledgable instructor listened to my needs and built a strongly structured day.
Boat was exactly what was asked for and worked without and issues.
I'm training for a specific event so have particular needs to match the event kit.
The instructor gave just the right level of coaching to highlight weaknesses and gently improve my sailing without being pushy or repetitive.
All the staff we friendly and welcoming through the day.

I great place for Mummy's treasured little darlings to gain yet another certificate. If you want to learn to sail a boat then go somewhere else. The fact that the school will not even let you sale the dinghy back to the centre " In case you accidentally Gibe" even when you have passed the Grade X sailing certificate gives you some idea as to how much faith they have in their own students ability.
