Services
We work together as a team at Castledawson Primary school to create a happy, positive, secure, inclusive and nurturing environment for every member of the school community. Our motto, 'Planting Seeds for Success; Grow and Blossom Together' reflects our child centered, nurturing approach. We develop the whole child - academically, emotionally, physically, spiritually and socially through our Christian and caring ethos.
Castledawson Primary School is situated just off the Main Street in the village of Castledawson, close to Magherafelt. Most of the children attending the school are from the local village and as a school we want to serve our community. Our school is made up of 5 spacious, well resourced classrooms, each containing an Interactive Whiteboard, a sports hall (which also serves as a dining hall) and a canteen.
We are a healthy school and care about the well-being of our pupils. Healthy eating is encouraged through a 'Healthy Breaks Initiative' for everyone and a healthy menu is available daily in our Level 5 Food Hygiene Rated school canteen. We also encourage parents to send healthy food for those taking a packed lunch.
The Eco Schools Green Flag is awarded to schools that care deeply for the environment and who encourage and foster positive change in environmental awareness. Castledawson Primary School was first awarded the prestigious Green Flag in 2011 and we now proudly fly our fourth Eco Flag! Healthy Living / Transport : Linked to our Silver Active Travel Award the children took part in many events to promote walking, cycling and scooting to school.
We have a thriving and active School Council called 'Kids Voice.' Each year elections are held to select new council members from each class. The council meet monthly to discuss issues raised at Class Council. Pupils are encouraged to contribute actively to discussions as Castledawson Primary is committed to seeking the views of our pupils when making decisions on school matters.

Report
I went to Castledawson Primary between 1992 and 1999 and loved it! My oldest has just finished P1 and I have no regrets about sending her here! Couldn't ask for better staff or a better local community who support each other!
