The Carriers Arms
We are a family run pub and restaurant situated in the beautiful village of East Bergholt, deep in the heart of Constable Country. Nestled within the Suffolk countryside lies the village of East Bergholt, historically famous for the 18th/19th century painter John Constable. East Bergholt also lays home to the 'old english' style pub and restaurant 'The Carriers Arms' formally known as 'The Carrick Arms', according to the 1881 census.

A carrier is an old trade usually referring to the landlord also providing transport for goods e.g. The Carriers is a Grade 2 listed building offering a large fireplace and beamed ceilings, hinting at the buildings historical origins being 14th century in one half and 15th century in the other. Sharon and Martin have kept many of the original features, creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Lovely pub. Great atmosphere. Good range of food and very tasty. Staff are friendly. We visited several times over the Christmas break. Pub was beautifully decorated and with the open fire, made for a very festive experience.

Fantastic experience, pubs the way they should be.
Came across Carriers when in the area visiting.
Homemade Stilton and Broccoli soup that was amazing. Meat lasagne with meat in instead of bulked out with pasta and it was delicious. Great burger as well.
Really welcoming and friendly staff. And an open fire on an autumn evening.
Great place and can't recommend enough.

Enjoyed The Carrier's Arms - dog friendly and a log burner. So cosy & friendly. Didn't get to see the garden outside as it was dark, but have seen pictures of it, and it looks lovely!
