Smytham Holiday Park is a family-run park located in a countryside location in North Devon. It is just 2 miles from Great Torrington on the A386 Okehampton Road. Smytham Holiday Park in North Devon is set in 33 acres of parkland adjoining the old Manor House, which is still used as a family home. We've got a selection of self-catering holiday accommodation, from traditional camping and caravanning pitches to timber lodges, camping pods, and holiday homes.
Services
Smytham Manor has been used for many different things over the years but in the early 1960s a man named Bill Tuck created a campsite, which has been here ever since. This has consequently grown as a business by keeping up with market trends. There is a bench on park to commemorate Bill. The Harper and Wiseman families purchased the park in 1999.
Our campsite is in the heart of this beautiful area, based in the grounds of the old manor house and surrounded with space and fresh air. At Smytham we have three touring areas the Walled Garden, The Terraces and The Orchard. The Walled Garden consists of 13 pitches suitable for small tents requiring a standard pitch.
Our two log cabins are situated in their own piece of Smytham Manor Holiday Park, and ideally placed to enable you to slow down and let the peace of North Devon seep in, leaving you recharged and ready to explore this stunning part of the country. With space for up to six people, each of our log cabins has all the facilities needed for a luxury self-catering holiday.
Our camping pods at Smytham Manor let you enjoy the fun and adventure of a camping holiday with a little extra luxury, and without the stress of putting up a tent, flapping wet canvas, or a wet tent to dry at home. They are the ideal accommodation for a short break, whatever season you're heading to North Devon.
A gravel hardstanding pitch with grass alongside or a grass pitch with an average size of 10 x 10 metres including a 16amp electric hook-up. These pitches are designed to give maximum drainage, topped with smooth pea gravel to ensure the safest contact with your ground sheet. These pitches are 15 x 12 metres in size, the pea gravel is 8 x 5 metres with the rest of the pitch as grass.

We stayed here overnight in our camper van so we could cycle the Tarka Trail, great location with direct access onto the trail. Super site, so clean, well organised, modern facilities and lovely friendly staff. This is a site I would have no hesitation in recommending. We had a puncture in one of our cycle tires, they recommend Puffing Billy cycle hire to get it repaired, fixed in no time, they were excellent, lovely people and didn't charge a fortune either.

Super cheap pitch price for backpackers/cyclists, £14 for two as of 23/8/21. Ask to avoid pitch W1, it's next to the pool's electrical system which made noise all night. We arrived late in the night, and Sophie in the bar was very helpful and patient with checking us in and helping us change our pitch location for the night. The attached photo is of pitch W5, which was much better.
A good place to kip for a night as a solo traveller, but avoid during the day as it's full of families and loud young children. The shower and toilet facilities are adequate. The park is ideally placed right next to

Very well run touring site. The team are on it enough to make you feel safe and looked after but not over the top with rules and measures that don't make you feel welcome. Freedom with safety. Covid measures are very good and well thought out. Swimming pool is enough to keep the kids busy and wasn't over crowded at any point. We always managed a couple of sun loungers. Tarka trail access is good, yes there is a 150m hill you have to push the bike up but nothing to moan about. 6 mile round trip to the Puffin Billy with a great cream tea was just enough enough for our young family.... games room

We hired en-suite pitch for 3 nights. It’s nice to have private facility for shower and washing up. The washing up area is also sheltered so I cooked breakfast on a camping stove next to the sink on the rainy day, very convenient indeed. The site is massive with camping, lodges and static caravans. The reason I only gave 2 stars is that this is all weather camping site meaning we had to set up tent on the gravel. This is really a pain! There are big stones hidden in the gravel and we bent several pegs. Luckily we have plenty of spares otherwise we wouldn’t even be able to put up the tent! One

The staff were all really friendly and helpful, especially Oscar who looked after us in the bar at night !

A well kept site. Staff very helpful and curtious. Site situated in an ideal setting for the nature likers and Tarka Trail for the energetic. One disappointment and that was my allocated Tent pitch ((W10) which was situated by the swimming pool Wall, it seems these pitches were a late Ad on to extend the spaces for Pitches, a gravel road run parrallel to the Pitches where cars past at regular intervals, a bit of an hidey spot with no CCTV which offered no security for vacant Tents,. Would advise Campers to ask what pitch allocation before arrival and avoid any Pitch with a W allocation.

Lovely site, very clean and welcoming. Very nice clean outdoor swimming pool - heated! Children's play area and games room. Doing all they could for health and hygiene.. we were only there for one night so didn't really make the most of it. Very reasonably priced considering everywhere is so highly priced at the moment. Close to RHS Rosemoor

Just left Smytham Holiday Park. We fell in love. What a treasure! Peaceful, spotless and perfectly placed for total well-being. A little stream close by...ideal for our water- hunting dogs. Right on the Tarka Trail....a beautiful path to the Puffing Billy Cafe but quite a long walk. Loved the small swimming pool and the calm and well placed layout, which gave us space. Now very tempted to consider a static van there. Beautiful throughout.
