Loch Garten Lodges are a small, natural site with self-catering lodge accommodation near Boat of Garten. Open all year round, we are only 7 miles from Aviemore in the Scottish Highlands. Without even leaving your lodge, it is possible to see a variety of wildlife, including pine martens, deer, red squirrels and many birds.
Ideally situated only a short distance from Boat of Garten, the site allows you easy access to all that Speyside and the Abernethy nature reserve have to offer. Our site is perfectly situated to experience Scotland's wildlife close at hand. Services
Situated in the heart of the Caringorm National Park, out lodge park is a perfect location to wind down, enjoy a relaxing break away from the main tourist area of Aviemore and explore all that the area has to offer. Landmark Forest Adventure Park - a great day out for the kids (and adults). Located in Carrbridge 7 miles from the park Forest activity park with climbing wall, highwirecourse, maze, raft ride and roller coaster.
Loch Garten Lodges sits on the Speyside way with beautiful trails stretching for miles. Nethy Bridge is an easy walk along the Speyside way where you can reward yourself with a coffee and a piece of cake in the Nethy House Caf. For a longer walk continue onwards to Grantown on Spey. In Aviemore itself is the Aviemore circular route - a short walk round the outskirts of the town.
We are very fortunate to have Pine Martens which come onto the site. Guests can entice them on to the decking of the lodges with sultanas, nuts and peanut butter. Many wildlife photographers return to the park year after year to see these rare creatures. We have lots of red squirrels in the trees around the park.
Do NOT take the first Aviemore exit. Let the A9 take you past Aviemore. Leave the A9 at the exit signposted Carrbridge / Boat of Garten / Nethy Bridge. At the t-junction with the A95, turn left. Signposted Carrbridge / Boat of Garten / Nethy Bridge. Continue on the A95. Stay on this road until the exit signposted Boat of Garten.

We came to stay during Christmas of 2021 for a holiday break to Scotland with our young children and we all had the best time! The site was so safe, very child friendly with stunning views! The woodland area just across the road was beautiful too. The site owners were lovely, very helpful and were kind enough to leave us a hamper upon arrival. They even went the extra mile, and put up a little Christmas tree up for us which was so thoughtful. They made our stay so special and we would highly recommend. We’ve had two holidays at Loch Garten lodges now in two separate chalets and been really impressed with both.
The facility is set on the edge of the forest, with stunning walks starting feet from your front door, yet it’s still only a 5 minute drive to the shops and restaurants in Aviemore.
The thing that really makes this place five stars though are the small details - the welcome pack and hamper, the local knowledge and friendly welcome and the incredibly accommodating hosts.
Next time we come up, we won’t bother looking anywhere else 100% would recommend.

Enjoyed a great family November stay at Loch Garten Lodges. Super comfortable and well-equipped chalet. Kitchen had all the crockery and utensils you could wish for for such a stay. Peaceful and relaxing location - yet only a short distance to nearby Aviemore and Carrbridge for a variety of shops/services. Site owners very friendly and helpful with local recommendations, etc.. Highly recommended place to stay if you are thinking of a break to The Cairngorms area.

Absolutely loved the cabin and location. From the moment we arrived, with a surprise welcome basket from our hosts and loads of local information, this truly is a well kept hidden gem. The cabin was fully kitted out and spotless. The Loch itself is only a 15 minute walk from the cabin site and other well kept walks are also nearby, including a walk to Nethy Bridge where a good meal can be had. Definitely one to come back too.

Lock Garten Lodges amazing accommodation very clean well kitted out and very comfortable
Pine martins captured on the night camera taking eggs from the table .lots of birds on the feeders birds of pray in… the sky fabulous
Nice cycle rides on the roads and forest tracks 1 mile run to the Loch 20 minutes swim run back for Breakfast at 7/30
Cycle to Nethy Bridge for coffee and the best millionaires short bread in the world
All in all a fantastic holiday. Will return hopefully when the Ospreys are also there

We recently enjoyed a wonderful week’s stay in one of these lovely lodges. We highly recommend the spacious, immaculate & very well equipped lodges.They are very well located in the heart of the beautiful Cairngorms National Park and surrounded by nature & local wildlife. We loved seeing the birds feasting on the multitude of feeders provided by owners Elsbeth & Gavin, who gave us such a warm welcome! We felt right at home! 👍😊

We highly recommend a stay in one of these lovely lodges! We’ve just come back from a wonderful week’s stay here. Perfect location for enjoying all the beautiful scenery & nature activities. Stayed for a week in Sand Piper lodge. Greeted on arrival by Elspeth & Gavin who were very friendly & knowledgeable & happy to advise us on places to go and things to do. Nothing was too much trouble. The lodge itself was perfect for our family of four. Clean and tidy, comfortable beds, gorgeous complimentary toiletries and the welcome hamper was a very nice touch! The location is just perfect. Peaceful, yet close to so many things to do; from walking in the Cairngorms, to paddling in Loch Garten itself (just a short drive away from the lodges). Just had a very relaxing fortnight in Sandpiper Lodge. New owners Gavin & Elspeth were so welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The lodge itself is so comfortable and brilliantly equipped, from fresh flowers, a welcome hamper and immaculately clean, it was fab. Love the natural setting of this lodge park, on the doorstep of the forest for walking, Loch Garten for wild swimming and so close to everything the area has to offer. The lodge was a perfect base to both explore the area and relax. A truly restorative break. We will definitely be back!

Once again a fantastic stay at Loch Garten Lodges. Elspeth and Gavin were really welcoming and the welcome basket was a great touch. Nothing was too much trouble. The WiFi was good. We have stayed here for years as the location is really peaceful, yet close enough to everything you need and now feel likes home. The wildlife was amazing with pine martens visiting regularly. The lodges are well equipped and great value. We will be back next year!

We recently spent an amazing week in Capercaillie Lodge where we received a very warm welcome from our hosts Gavin and Elspeth. They made us feel at home immediately and their knowledge of the surrounding area… was a very helpful start to our holiday. The lodge was very clean, comfortable and well-equipped with all the amenities needed for self-catering plus Wifi! We were lucky to have an abundance of wildlife on our doorstep, notably for the area, Pine Martens and Ospreys! We were very fortunate in being the first guests to stay at Loch Garden Lodges when they opened this season under new ownership. We were surprised and delighted as the lodges way surpassed our expectations! They are amply spacious , comfortable , easy to maintain and well supplied with everything you need.
