Services
This is our main business and we pride ourselves in offering the highest possible quality of clock restoration service in a friendly and efficient manner. We have only our reputation of excellence to thank for our longstanding and, more importantly, happy, large client base. Our work is fully guaranteed, and whilst it is on the premises you can be assured that your clock is secure.
As the area's only Barometer Specialists we offer a complete repair and restoration service for all mechanical (Aneroid) and mercurial barometers. New bevelled glasses made and fitted on the premises. We offer a complete Barometer and Barograph repair service including pressure testing and calibrating.
Not only do we repair and restore clocks and barometers but when required, we also carry out Conservation work and advise on Horological Conservation. Simply put, conservation is preservation, keeping the item in it's present condition, ensuring that further damage, wear or degrading doesn't occur.
We offer a comprehensive buying service that benefits you because you receive immediate payment and do not have to pay expensive auction fees. As a guarantee of our transparency we welcome you to seek an auction house estimate for your item and we will then try to either match it or in some cases, better it.
We only advertise a proportion of our range on the website because quite often, sales are made before we get chance to prepare items of stock. Usually, clocks and barometers are an intimate purchase that is unique and cannot be fully represented by photographs.

We always when possible, encourage people to examine the item that they are interested in and discuss the preparation details with us so that when you receive your new purchase it is exactly how you wanted it and you can be assured of its authenticity.

Perfect restoration. Really the way it should be. Despite all the major and essential renovations it still keeps all the the important signs of age and originality. Very impressed.

I have previously purchased a clock and barometer from Mr Taylor, so I enquired to see if he could find me a suitable bracket for my bracket clock. He suggested that he made one to match the period and the ebonised cabinet. I sent him some photos and the clock footprint.
The bracket has just arrived and is a perfect match for the clock.
The combination looks stunning and I have no hesitation in recommending Mr Taylor for sound advice, excellent workmanship and attention to detail.

I took the mantel clock presented to my Grandfather on his retirement from Guinness's St James's Gate Brewery, which I inherited from my mother, to M C Taylor as it had not been operational for some time (broken mainspring). Mr Taylor completely cleaned and overhauled the clock mechanism, repaired the mainspring and restored the finish to the case. It is a pleasure to once again hear the background tick-tock of the clock and the melodious striking of the hours and half-hours after around 50 years of silence. A true craftsman who obviously takes great pleasure in his work, I cannot recommend Mr

Mr Taylor's team beautifully restored my mother's bracket clock to its former glory. What an amazing result, just as I remember it was from childhood. Not only does it work like new, it looks stunning, you can't see any joins in the woodwork. I don't know how they did it but I was speechless when i first saw it, it was like something off of The Repair Shop, I was close to tears and I don't mind admitting it.

The greeting, attention to detail and a keen wish to repair a Garrard Mantelpiece clock earnt huge praise from my father this week. The clock was inspected and adjusted and we left delighted. The clock is now functioning correctly, we have instructions for a more permanent repair all without charge. Most impressed and embarassed. Thank you.

Mark, I can't thank you and your lovely friendly team enough for restoring my Great-Grandfather's Grandfather clock which I inherited in a dreadful state. You have all worked miracles on it and it is now stunning - no wonder you have such a long waiting list! The clock now has pride of place in my hallway as it so rightly deserves.
