Acorn Childcare UK
Acorn Childcare (UK) is a registered charity run by a Management Committee, registered charity number 1090086. As a charitable organisation, we collect no profit and re-invest all income within the running and improvements of our facilities. Originally, in 1992, Acorn Childcare was set up as a nursery facility within the grounds of Headlands Primary School, Northampton.

We have approximately 150 children registered for care with us, from the ages of 3 months to 11 years. At Acorn Childcare, we aim to provide our local communities with high-quality childcare to all, regardless of race, sex, culture or special needs. We aim to provide a secure and welcoming environment that creates the space and comfort needed to allow children to enjoy developing and growing in their own capabilities and confidence.
Services
Parents interested in placing their child with Acorn Childcare UK are encouraged to visit the setting. We operate an "open door" policy which allows prospective parents to see the nursery as it is at any given time. We are proud of our childcare and are happy to show our facilities without the need for a pre-planned appointment.
Our Management Committee consists of a group of approximately 6 members, at least 90% of whom are parents of children within our care. Other Committee members include representatives of the Headlands Primary School that we are attached to, Staff Representatives and the Childcare Manager. The Annual Report and audited accounts are published each September and are available for review by interested parties at this point.
The Executive Team are responsible for providing quality childcare, running and developing Acorn Childcare UK as a whole organisation. They are highly qualified and are well experienced in childcare. Within each centre, each age-group area is overseen by the Room Co-ordinator. Room Co-ordinators are responsible for the planning of activities in the rooms, communication with parents, overseeing child observation folders and the children's welfare.
Our Evergreen areas are designed to house a large variety of activities for our pre-schoolers (Age 3+). Children are encouraged to engage in activities which interest them. The Evergreen area allows many activities to be on offer at any one time. Books, computers, 'environment walks', music and dance are all integral materials used.
As the children reach their next stage of development they move to our Bluebell room. This room meets the ages of 2-2 to 3 years. The playroom is designed to allow our toddlers the space and stimulation that this age group require. We enhance and encourage newly developed physical and language skills through learning based play.
