My name is Catherine Puyravaud, although the children and staff call me Madame. I have been involved in teaching one way or another for most of my life starting with teaching my dollies the alphabet, aged 4.
I studied Anglo-American literature, history and culture at university with a view to teaching English in France but when I met my future husband during my post graduate year in England, we got married and I became a French teacher in England instead.My interest in teaching French to young children began when I had children myself.

We build children's confidence and skills through regular opportunities for music and movement activities called Boogie Mites. Children get to make their own instruments and play along to the songs as well. Boogie Mites is based on research in the field of child development and neuroscience and is full of 'brain boosting benefits.'
Through fun activities and resources, we introduce the children to a wonderful outdoor world of adventure. We develop children's understanding of the world around them by using their imagination, emotions and senses providing activities such as mini-beast hunts, leaf matching, and picture making with natural materials.
Abacus is a childcare gem in Newbury and has been the first choice for hundreds of families since opening in 1992.
