Art Works Space is a network of independent Art Therapists based in Gloucestershire working with adults and children. We are highly trained and experienced therapists able to work with complex and deeply rooted psychological difficulties. Art Therapy is a respected and effective psychological therapy with similarities to Counselling and Psychotherapy.
It combines the therapeutic qualities of making art with the opportunity to explore your feelings with an experienced therapist who is skilled at understanding complex interpersonal relationships. Many people find Art Therapy enormously beneficial and very effective at resolving long-term and deeply rooted difficulties.

Services
Art Therapy is a form of psychological therapy using art materials for self-expression and reflection in the presence of a trained Art Therapist who provides a safe space in which clients can explore their experiences and feelings. Art Therapy is helpful for people who may seek out Counselling or Psychotherapy.
Art Therapy is effective with a broad range of psychological difficulties from life-style problems to more severe and incapacitating mental health conditions. It is also effective for people with Special Needs and Learning Disabilities. This includes people of all ages, and those who may consider a Counsellor, Psychotherapist, Clinical Psychologist, Complementary or Alternative Therapist to help them resolve their difficulties.
Art therapists have an in-depth knowledge of the subtleties and complexities of the art making process and its therapeutic application. They are able to provide a trusting and facilitating environment in which clients feel safe to express their emotions and explore their relationship to their past and present experiences and relatiopnships.
I believe passionately in Art Therapy and its ability to help people. I have extensive experience and expertise working with adults suffering from a wide range of mental health and psychological difficulties. For 19 years I worked as an Art Therapist for the NHS in Adult Mental Health and now have a private practice in Nailsworth near Stroud.
Individual sessions are generally for one hour and group sessions are generally for one and a half to two hours, depending on the circumstances. You will be offered an assessment session to discuss your needs and whether Art Therapy is likely to help you, before embarking on an agreed length of therapy.
