Services
As one of Shropshire's longest established and more experienced funeral directors, we can help unburden you from much of the stress of arranging a funeral, so you can focus on the things that are most important to you and your family. You will find a vast array of helpful information on our website; but your funeral director will also be able to answer any question you might have.
When someone has died within a place of professional care such as a nursing home and the death is both natural and expected, it will usually be confirmed by their Doctor or qualified carer. As soon as it has been confirmed please get in touch with us so that we can take some initial details and advise you on the next steps in regards to obtaining the medical certificate of cause of death and also how to register the death.
The following information is from the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SATH) website:. The experienced Bereavement Care team at the Trust provides a caring and compassionate service, offering support and reassurance, information and guidance. A member of the hospital medical staff, who has been looking after your loved one at the time of death, will issue a Medical Certificate of Cause of Death (death certificate).
If someone dies unexpectedly, emergency services may have been notified and could have attended the address. After an initial investigation at the address which may involve the police they will arrange for the deceased to be taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital or the Princess Royal Hospital Telford, or possibly directly into our care if we have been requested by the Police to attend.
After someone dies, a close family member will normally contact us to notify us of their passing, so that we can arrange for their transfer into our care. Following the initial call we will arrange for our team including one of our funeral directors to attend the address. Our caring staff realise how difficult this part can be for you and your family.

I used Pugh's, as my husband had died and I wanted a good funeral directors . I couldn't have been more pleased with Paul O'brien and the way he organised everything. He was kind, understanding and helpful. Everything went perfectly on the day and I felt my husband had the service he would have wanted. Thanks to everyone who I spoke to at Pugh's .

Paul showed compassion, support and attention to detail when helping to arrange my mother’s funeral which really helped us all to say goodbye at such a sad time. There was nothing I had issues about - which is a rare thing coming from a nursing professional myself, so would highly recommend them, thank you again
