My name is Guy Payne, I am a counsellor and psychotherapist, welcome to my web site. I started life in Lagos, Nigeria in 1965 and I first came to live in the UK in 1972 at the age of seven. I still remember adjusting to my new life Dorset and the sun and the sea remain important parts of my life today.
I started my professional life in 1989 as a teacher of English, however, I have always had a passion for helping people of all ages to feel heard and understood and in 2001, I qualified as a therapist and counsellor. Since then I have gained extensive experience and training and I still wake up each day feeling excited by my profession.

Services
Counselling I provide gives you the opportunity to soothe your anxieties and recover from difficult times so you can enjoy life with energy and hope. I have been lucky enough to have been working with children for over half my life and I am registered with The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy as a therapist for Children and Young People.
Counselling I provide gives you the opportunity to soothe your anxieties and recover from difficult times so you can enjoy life with energy and hope. Therapy gives you the time and the opportunity to hear your own story in safety and peace. I understand that thinking and speaking about difficult times can evoke strong feelings and memories that you may be trying hard to manage or forget.
When we feel alone and ignored we can feel anxious and angry around our partners. Couple counselling provides the opportunity for you both to sit together and find new, more helpful, ways of hearing and supporting each other. I provide short and long-term therapy for couples who want to make a change in their relationship.
Our families have the potential to bring us joy and safety and a sense of belonging that cannot be equalled in any other part of our lives. The counselling I provide is dedicated to realising this potential. Family counselling can help members of your family who care about one another to speak about difficult thoughts and emotions in a safe way where no one is scapegoated or blamed and everyone is heard and respected.
In this article I write about how hard it can be for some children and young people to comply with adult expectations and the risks of labelling them with a conduct disorder. Counselling is not necessarily about: Linking your precious feelings to catch phrases and buzz words like, "I'm co-dependant", and "That's your stuff not mine."
