The Bistro, situated in Ventnor town just yards from the cascade gardens and the sea front, is a small, family friendly restaurant with a relaxed, contemporary atmosphere that is both warm and welcoming yet sophisticated. Unfortunately as we are a small restaurant we simply do not have enough room for highchairs, prams or buggies.
We do not have baby changing facilities or a children's menu. As such we politely request customers not ask us to make exceptions. The open kitchen adds to your dining experience enabling you to see Andy the chef at work preparing and cooking your meal. Using the best of locally sourced seasonal produce and ingredients the food is cooked fresh and can be adapted to suit children or specific dietary requirements.

We tried The Bistro as a walk in on a Friday evening, sadly it was fully booked, which is always a good sign. However we were fortunate to pick up a cancellation for the Saturday evening.
The bistro is a small tasteful intimate establishment with a comprehensive menu of farye available. The wine list was varied and very good too.
Our meal was cooked to perfection and the service was professional but fuss free creating a dinner a friends vibe.
Not having been on the Island for 20 plus years it was lovely to reminise about places long gone with the owners.

Our meal at The Bistro was a ‘final evening’ treat and we weren’t disappointed.
The ambiance is vibrant, the staff attentive but not intrusive and the food and wine perfect.
We had Fritto misto and marinated herring starter, lamb and duck mains, streusel and cheesecake dessert. All were beautifully presented, perfectly cooked and delicious. The wine was recommended by Jane and a perfectly complimented the duck.
The walls are mini galleries for local artists which provided interest. If we’re back in Ventnor we will definitely make a booking at The Bistro one of our first moves.

Wonderful meal at the Bistro for our wedding anniversary. I chose tempura prawns and Roger had olives with warm ciabatta and local butter for starters, I had roast beef and all the trimmings Roger had the lamb, all excellent choices. Quality of food is excellent. Will definitely be visiting again. Thank you Jane 👏👏👏

Lovely little bistro with the nicest staff who were extremely helpful with the dishes on the menu. We had lamb and duck dishes and both were yummy!! Good selection on the menu and wines and spirits. Thank you for my limoncello birthday drink 👍. Very sorry we did not have room for pudding. They looked stunning.

Loved it here. Food was delicious. They didn't have a specific kids menu but they offered to adapt meals from the main menu and charged a lower price. As I have a nut allergy dessert can sometimes be tricky for me but again they easily accomdated me and I got to have the fabulous floating island with possibly the best custard I ever tasted. Staff were friendly and welcoming. I'd highly reccommend.

We had a fantastic meal here. All four dishes we tried were absolutely great and the portion sizes were very generous! The white wine we had was also excellent for a cheaper option on the wine list. Staff were friendly and very good with my girlfriend's nut allergy. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very nice, the service was not rushed and courses came out at good intervals. The quality here was genuinely surprising- Ventnor has come a long way in culinary terms!

What a brilliant restaurant. Simply stunning food.
The starter of Heritage Isle of Wight tomato salad is a must.
The grilled hake fillet with sweet potato fries was delicious.
The beef and veg stir fry was possibly the best I have ever eaten.
The crab and spinach gratin was lovely.
The chocolate ganache torte was simply sublime.
Amazing place to eat.
