If you're planning a bike trip in Cumbria or want some advice on your next new bike then pop in and say hi; the kettle's always on.
Services
4Play Cycles was formed by Adam Stitt in 2001 who moved up to Cumbria from Liverpool. Having worked as a mechanic in bike shops in Liverpool for many years Adam decided it was time to set up on his own. Cumbria was the obvious location to allow Adam to follow his passion for mountain biking and launch his own business at the same time.
If it creaks, squeaks, rattles or bangs, or you just want a tune up, bring it in for us to look at. Repairs are our forte. This is where the magic happens! We pride ourselves on getting your bike performing to its optimum and getting you back on the road or the mountain, pronto. We like to go above and beyond when treating your bikes to their TLC and give them all the same love we give our own.
So yes, as far as grips go, they are more pricey than your average, retailing at 100, yes that's right 100 for grips. But your skepticism will soon disappear like Adams did once you have ridden them.

They are perfectly suited for riding rocky, rough and fast trail, because their patented technology dampens down the forces that would normally go through your hands and arms, causing that annoying hand pump or ache from holding on as you shoot down the track. Its a pure shock absorber for your hands and wrists, adding more comfort and control to the ride and limiting that fatigue.
At 4Play Cycles we think if Cyclescheme is available to you from your employer it is a great ay to buy a bike. If you want to know more about how Cyclescheme works and how you can ride to work in Cumbria, pop in to see us for a chat and we can explain more about how it works and help you find the right bike for you.
Legendary Gary Fisher, Joe Breeze, to name a few spearheading the revolution which was to develop mountain biking like no other. We salute the pioneers of mountain biking. From those days mountain bikes have developed their own identity. Unique axle widths, geometry and of course modern suspension, all creating bikes that are now technical masterpieces, designed for off road, rough terrain; easier to handle, stronger, lighter and faster.

First class service. I was desperate for a push bike as my scooter broke and the buses were cancelled and the guys sorted me out with a second hand bike. I don't think I've ever had such good service, they were so friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and kind.

On holiday in the Lake District my serious cyclist son had a mechanical problem with his Campag gear shifter. No spares, miles from home, many hills still to be climbed, unhappy son! The nearest bike Shop in Keswick recommended Four Play in Cockermouth!
What a revelation, after a positive phone call confirming that they would “give it a go” my sons bike was back on the road within two hours!! A new/ old shifter was fitted which although not a permanent fix has proven fully up to the task!!
Can’t thank you guys enough.
If your in the area and you need a proper and helpful bike shop, Four

Thank you to the guys at 4 play cycles. I brought my broken bike in yesterday, they were able to fit me in despite being horrendously busy, had my bike fixed up and ready within 24 hrs. Really great team, superb knowledge and amazingly helpful. Will definitely be taking my bike back for servicing in the future.

Great shop and amazing service, had a misbehaving front derailleur while doing the Hadrian's C2C and stopped by, the member of staff who fixed my bike wasn't event meant to be at work that day! Saved our trip. Couldn't recommend them higher!

Popped by as having trouble with my gears. Despite being really busy, the guys at 4 play took a look and did what they could to help as well as sort the fitting of my saddle bag. If only we didn't have to rush off, I'd have got a serious overhall done. I'd highly recommend.

Great shop, good crack with employees and a serious amount of bike knowledge coming out of these guys. Very supportive guys.
Pros: good bike servicing and repairs, customer support
Cons: too many nice things in shop you'd want to buy
