We run family, school and community events locally and also regionally with partner groups. The Thorney Society runs the Thorney Museum which offers displays to visitors, bringing the area's history alive from ancient to modern times. Please visit our 'Memberships and Donations' page if you would like to part of this historical society.
Services
We invite you to discover more about Thorney, by following our steps through history below. The Fenland Archeological Survey of 1987 indicated Bronze Age Burial Mounds scattered over the Fen Area to the west of the island. Two of these were excavated for the company developing the first Pode Hole Quarry area.
Please contact us prior to visiting the museum for family history enquiries, so we can provide the best possible service, please e-mail or call us. We are grateful for donations to support the additional resources Thorney Society can offer. NB: During museum opening hours, family history experts may be unavailable and stewards will be unable to help immediately.
Sites associated with Peterborough's Heritage Attractions Group & Our Sponsors who have kindly assisted us with donations on projects we are working on. You can also find lots of other visitor information about things to do, places to stay, what's on and where, places to eat anddrink and much more via 'Visit Peterborough'.
