Wheatlands Lodge Hotel began in 1981 when one derelict, late 19th century property was bought by Terry Wheatley. After a lot of hard work and plenty of brick dust and rubble, a small Bed & Breakfast opened its doors with only eight bedrooms, wet paint still drying, Terry cooking, and friends and family washing up!

Firstly this Hotel is quite underrated in my opinion. From the arrival the staff was amazing and to let us park at the rear even though the car park was crammed.
The hotel grounds and interior are very clean and warm. Couldn’t ask for a better venue to stay last minute on NYE. Would 100% recommend to Try or Return 👏🏻👏🏻

I'm so surprised the Wheatlands Lodge is only a two-star hotel as I found my stay there very comfortable. I was greeted by friendly staff and with the Christmas tree in the lobby and the log fire I felt I'd stepped into a Victorian Christmas. My room was spacious and clean and the breakfast delicious.
I didn't catch everyone's name, but I'd like to thank Fiona and her staff for all their hard work and especially Toby and the girls in the restaurant who couldn't do enough to make breakfast a lovely start to the day.

My partner and I spent three days in York staying at Wheatland Lodge Hotel. We had an excellent stay and cannot speak highly enough of the hotel and the service provided by the staff.
The hotel had excellent accommodation and was beautifully and proudly kept. We were on a bed and breakfast basis and the breakfast choice was very good and matching and surpassing ratings received for higher graded hotel accommodation. This enhanced our stay in the lovely city of York and we look forward to returning in the future. Wheatlands Lodge thank you so much.

I stayed in this wonderful family run hotel this week. Tim & Fiona are great hosts, nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation was excellent and meals( breakfast and dinner) was high quality and served by friendly and courteous team. I would'nt hesitate to stay here again whilst visiting historic York..a home away from home😊💙

Lovely old row of houses have been converted into this very pleasant, comfortable and clean hotel. Arrived before check in time so was offered a coffee on the house, nice touch and much appreciated. Good value for money and well positioned for exploring York city centre. It is a listed building so there are no lifts. It is a little awkward if you have large heavy cases. We were offered help with our luggage though.

The staff and Fiona and Tim were very kind, supportive and compassionate when I was going through a difficult time during my stay. I could not have asked for anything more than being part of a family and when everything is back to normal my dear friend and I will go back and finish our holiday. Thank you to all of you , brilliant hotel and lovely staff, beautiful food, no one could want more 🙂👍🍾😘
