Caerleon Veterinary Practice

Usk Vets was founded over 60 years ago and is part of the fabric of the local community. We have a strong team of vets and nurses dedicated to offering optimal treatment to all animals under our care. As a rural mixed practice, we have veterinary expertise with all creatures, and individual vets specialise in these different species.

This is the main practice where all the vets and the majority of staff are based. There are facilities for consultation, operating and hospitalisation for farm, equine and companion animals. The Caerleon, Newport branch has facilities for pet consultations and operations. There is also the provision for horses to be brought down for vaccinations and health checks.

Flea infestations are no longer a seasonal issue. They are now an all year round problem, because our pets spend much of their time in centrally heated houses. Prevention is easier than treatment. Many people do not realise that just 5% of the total flea population is on their pet, while 95% is on the carpet, curtains and sofas, so in addition to treating your pet, the house should also be done.

We believe that nutrition is an important part of keeping pets healthy and can also play a vital part in the treatment of some illnesses. This is why we stock a select range of cat and dog pet food in practice, helping to take the faff out of pet food for our clients by recommending diets that have been scientifically created to provide optimal nutrition, which tastes great!
