After 2 years of wearing a pair of herring shoes, on and off, the sole of of the shoes was damaged, made it impossible to wear. When ask the customer service for advice, a very rude person responded that it would have been normal, and that I would have needed to send the shoes for changing the soles and pay 120£ ! When I mentioned that I had never seen this problem with other reputable brands, he simply denied my opinion. I believe their attitude to clients is unhelpful and unprofessional.

An absolute pleasure to visit the store in Kingsbridge. Adam went way beyond expectation, helping me find the right size and last shape for my feet and guiding me on which brands would best fit me. Although the pair I wanted was not in store, he organised for them to be sent directly to my address in the next few days. Really couldn’t recommend him or the company enough. When I contacted the company to return an addition pair of boots, I spoke with Chris who was just as friendly and helpful, demonstrating Herring’s companywide excellent customer service. Great boots too!

Herring Shoes should provide a free return service. I just sent back a pair of shoes that did not fit from the U.S. to Herring, via United States Postal Service, and the charge was $66.55. Unless you are absolutely sure that the shoes will fit. the risk is too great to purchase and possibly have to return the shoes. Most upscale retailers provide a free return service.

After breakfast at Café Bewleys up the hill (see my separate review), my mate wanted to show me this shoe shop. He very much liked their shoes which carried the name of the shop and wanted to know where they came from, as he had never seen them for sale anywhere else. The very amiable and forthcoming lady assistant explained that they designed the shoe styles, then got famous shoe manufacturers like Loake, Barker and Cheaney to make them on their behalf, so that explains their excellent quality.

Four months ago I ordered some Richmond brogues from Herring which were on sale (they are still on sale today which confirms that their quality was misrepresented). I was impressed by the positive reviews. The shes arrived on time in very good packaging. However the fit of the shoes is really bad and feels very uncomfortable to wear. I know Jones is not everyone's favourite brand, but my previous shoes were from there and were so comfortable to wear. Unfortunately it seems that the shoes were fairly priced rather than keenly as claimed by the retailer (the spiel was that they were saving on marketing

This is one of those rare occasions where a company deserves to receive a positive review. I ordered a pair of shoes which unfortunately arrived with minor but noticeable size difference between the two.
