The English Language Centre Bristol (ELC Bristol) was founded in 1969. It was the first English language school in Bristol. Abon School was founded in 1973. ELC Bristol and Abon were great friends and were the only two language schools in the city until the late 1980s when OISE and IH Bristol opened.
To provide high quality education in the English language for students aged 16+, focussing on teaching General English and preparing students successfully for the Cambridge and IELTS examinations. To recruit and retain a team of experienced and qualified teachers who are committed to creating a stimulating, supportive and active learning environment in which students can make rapid progress.

We get to know all our students as individuals. Not only will we help you in the classroom but we will also interview you regularly and plan an individual self-study programme for you. Every single student is known by name and every student in the school is discussed in our weekly teachers' meetings.

My three weeks at ELC Bristol were wonderful. I loved my teachers, the schoool spirit, and how principal John Duncan knew everybody. The activities were well arranged, as well as the lessons. Bristol as a whole… was a welcoming city, and I never felt lonely even though I traveled alone. Tell Emma I said hi, I kept her paper plane ;)
