You may find booking online below the quickest way to secure a table, or please call us on 01727 865 568 or WhatsApp +44 7368662915. For parties of 6 or more we require you need to contact us directly. During busy periods on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, we kindly request guests return their table after two hours if we have another booking.
Our beautiful private dining room overlooks St Albans Cathedral and seats up to 10 for dinner or 14 for a drinks reception. There is no minimum spend in the private dining room but for groups of 8 or more we request you to take our Group Menu. You will have a dedicated member of our team looking after you.

Disappointing. One main and all sides were served cold. The team were very apologetic and replaced the dishes, but food doesn't then arrive all together making it awkward. The replacement main came back burnt so had to be replaced again. We did get a discount on the bill, but left feeling sad as we went there to celebrate a 70th birthday. It was a Monday night and we were the only people in the restaurant at the time. So disappointed as the menu looked fab.

The chef doesn't care! We all understand the pressure hospitalities are under these days. To stock up is like a gamble, and you don't know how much to order or how long you will be trading for until the next restriction release. Your experienced staff are leaving, and the budget is thin.
...But you can always prepare delicious food for your customers with just essential ingredients. It's all about the experience, but if the chef can't deliver, you need to question it "WHY?"

The food was tasty enough though over priced (£27 for a steak on a plate with sprig of watercress - and nothing else) but the whole evening was coloured by the standard of service. We were there as part of a large party and all had pre-ordered but service was very slow throughout the evening. We felt that we had to ask for everything: a drink after sitting waiting for a good 20 mins, a spoon for dessert and a refill of water etc. Not a good experience.

The service was excellent, the young people who looked after us were a credit to their parents.
Unfortunately, that's where the good bit ends. The Loft has serious kitchen issues resulting in (1 example) two steaks orders both medium. the first was bleeding all over the plate the second was actually medium-well. I terms of consistency they were both as tough as old boots. We took them home and the dogs had no complaints.
Dessert, Chocolate fondants were actually OK but the crème brûlée had raw sugar on top, either

Great food and service. It reminded us of eating in France where they care about the food, presentation and look after your wine needs too. Spot on for music choice too in background and the bar area thankfully full of a discerning group. Charming. We had tuna tartare and then steak and the cod. Recommend the homemade sticky toffee pudding - had a taster from OH (I don't do sweet really) and it was to die for. Shame no creme brulé. Good large cheese board too. Next time a brulé for sure!.

Beautiful oak-beamed, single room loft space at the back of a short alley off George Street, so a little tucked away. Went for Sunday lunch on the late May Bank Holiday and had a lovely meal. I had the burrata followed by roast beef; both generous portion sizes, quality ingredients and beautifully cooked. The other three members of our group were equally satisfied with their choices.
Service was friendly and efficient whereas other reviewers have found it a little slow. The restaurant wasn’t full at the time of our visit, maybe as it was a lovely sunny day and others preferred to eat outside
