In addition our bunkhouse sleeps up to 20 and is open all year. All of our holiday park is dog friendly, and our facilities include a constant supply of hot and cold water in the toilet block with the added benefit of relieving tired and aching muscles with a piping hot shower after your day in the outdoors.

Deep sinks are available for the cleaning of pots and pans and a laundry with washer and drier are there for your use. The farm will be pleased to supply you with fresh milk and eggs just ask at the farmhouse. We also have a Breakfast Van open on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 7.30am to 11.00am.

You could not wish for a more picturesque location, set amongst pine and broad leafed trees and alongside a sparkling stream flowing from Red Tarn, all with the surrounding fells rising direct from your door. Ullswater offers a range of activities from sailing to swimming. Glenridding has a good selection of general food and gift stores, a National Park information centre, cafes, restaurants and pubs, and outdoor gear shop and garage.
Our bunkhouse is perfectly placed for walking up Helvellyn, being located at the start of the main path up from Glenridding. Ullswater offers a range of activities from sailing to swimming. Glenridding has a good selection of general food and gift stores, a National Park information centre, cafes, restaurants and pubs, and outdoor gear shop and garage.
The Lightfoot family have been farming at Gillside since 1954. We farm around 160 acres in the Dale around Glenridding as well as a further 160 or so acres further along Ullswater by Watermillock. Gillside has over 800 award winning Swaledale Ewes and around 25 cattle. It is very much a working farm and so you can be sure of seeing plenty of farming activity during your holiday with us - especially around lambing time in May and June.

We’ve been coming to Gillside for 25 years. It’s a great site set in a stunning location. Brilliant pub with a very short walk. Helvellyn a tad further!

Absolutely loved this place. Fantastic location and within walking distance to Glenridding. Caravan was spotlessly clean and the views wonderful. We stayed in November and it was lovely and cosy. Would definitely come back in the summer to be able to sit outside next to the stream with a nice chilled beer. Highly recommend this place

Lovely campsite, situated at the base of Helvelyn. Great views and a steady stream running through the site. Only downside is you dont get long in the shower, 20p gets you about a minute of hot water after that it turns cold... freshens you up though :)

Great site perfectly situated for the Helvellyn range and a very short walk into Glenridding village. On two levels with a higher level nearer the farm house being on a bit of a slope. The lower level is a flatter larger field bordering the public footpath and the Beck, although the Beck isn’t particularly picturesque. Reception sells milk and other necessities although you are only a three minute walk into the shops of the village. Showers and toilet block clean and functional. Showers 20p but did not cut off at all and I like a long shower. Butty van on a Sat and Sun morning till 11am is a

Great location if your planning on hiking Helvellyn as it right at the start of the trails. Short 5min walk to Glenridding, 30min drive from Windermere. Friendly owners, great value for money. Good shower, toilets and washing up facilities. Great for families, groups and solo camping. Great views all round.

Just returned from a few days camping at Gillside. A simple but clean campsite, with all the facilities you need and super friendly owners. Appreciated being able to have a bit of space despite campsite being full. Would happily go back again next time we are in the Lake District. Thank you for a lovely stay!

I had a fantastic three night stay here, the campsite was large with lush green grass, facilities are clean and the reception I received was friendly and respectful and helpful. I didn’t see a freezer for iceblocks etc but to be fair I didn’t really look. Breakfast van was there every morning which was amazing. Water taps were conveniently scattered around the fields so you never had to trek far. Very hot water and showers. One electric socket in ladies that I could see but we were really grateful the kind ladies let us charge our laptop in their house and didn’t want to charge us when we

Stayed here in a tent with 4 kids and the wife. X6 peoples in a tent, was raining and windy, but what a week. I will be booking next year for 2 weeks, as 1 just wasnt long enough. The views are spectacular, the facilities are fair. It is 20p for the shower, but the time is plenty and you will find more often than not, you have time left but finished.. the campsite is a bit undulating, although there are some large areas where a bigger tent can set up. But wow, the views. Dog friendly and people are respectful. Loved my stay, can't wait to go again.
