Reid Mackellar is a well known and trusted local independent opticians, serving Greenock and the surrounding areas. Established in 1936 by James Reid Mackellar, the family business has grown through three generations. Today Campbell Mackellar and his sister, Mhairi, are proud to carry on the family tradition.

In our large independent practice our friendly team are here to make it easy for you. We want you to make the right selection so you feel great when you get your new glasses.

Contact lenses are a great alternative to wearing glasses. Whether you are new to contact lenses or an experienced wearer, we are here to guide you to the best lenses for your eyes and your lifestyle. Contact lens technology has improved dramatically over the years allowing wearers increased comfort, better eye health and clearer vision than ever before.
We will be in touch just before your next lenses are due to organise a telephone consultation with your optometrist so that we can supply you with your next batch of lenses. The consultation should only take around 5-10 minutes. If you have only been wearing contact lenses for a short while or you would prefer an appointment with your optician then we can arrange this too.

I've been going to Reid Mackellar Opticians for years, very thorough examination from Janine, who explained changes in my eyes. I always leave feeling it's a very personal service. Great choice of styles to suit most budgets, great assistance from Mhairi in choosing and fitting my glasses, staff are very patient and professional. Fabulous to have them in our community.

I have been going to Reid Mackellar Opticians for over 20 years and would highly recommend the personal service every customer receives. All budgets are catered for with both styles and quality along with a selection of designer glasses. Children's glasses are also great quality. My Granddaughter got her first 2 pairs in August and she loves them 1 for play, 1 for school and she happily wears than all day without any complaints. Definitely the only Optician I would use and I highly recommend them.
