George started Steamond Travel twenty plus years ago having had the very best learning curve working for up market tour operators and London retail travel agencies. Having travelled in the Americas, Canada, Indian Ocean and Africa, George is at his most fulfilled when arranging tailor made holidays to all parts of the globe, or rugby tours to the Southern Hemisphere.
The web certainly helps you to research your options, but there is still a need for unbiased advice from travel professionals, particularly if you want the security of immediate back up whilst travelling. Ever tried to speak to a web site if you don't like your room? This is particularly true when you control your own travel expenditure and have little time or inclination to trawl the web because you're busy running your own business.
Since the 2000s, the ability to find and book flights online has resulted in big savings for travellers. Many of those who posed as experts - travel agencies and tour operators - went out of business as people found that they could find and book what they wanted themselves.
