Services
Engaging in creative arts has been shown to provide a broad range of health benefits, including improved motivation, increased social engagement and enhanced self confidence. North Tyneside Art Studio offers a safe, non-judgemental environment where people can explore their creativity at their own pace, to help improve and sustain good mental health as part of a friendly and welcoming community.
In recognition of the studio's quarter-century anniversary, the Heritage Lottery Fund supported us in looking into the studio's history, with creative and research activities that have included exhibitions, research trips and oral history recordings. Photos and stories from our studio's history, captured as part of our 25th anniversary project, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The studio is open to anyone living in North Tyneside who is experiencing mental health issues. Access to the studio is made by referral from your GP, Community Treatment Team or other healthcare professional by completing and signing our referral form.
Once we receive your completed referral, we will invite you to attend a short Induction session which provides you with an overview of the Studio's Code of Conduct (set out by our Members) and a few health and safety guidelines.

In order to keep social distance, we have to limit the number of people who can be in the studio at the same time. You will need to book a space so that you can come in and if you do not have a booking, you will not be able to attend the studio, even if you intend to work outside the building. You will have the option to book for either the 2D or 3D studio.
Paul guides the overall strategy for the studio, creating partnerships with other organisations, finding funding and working closely with the board of Trustees to ensure the studio continues to help people. Michael arranges the programme of creative activities and develops the overall artistic strategy for the studio.

North Tyneside Art Studio is part of the Linskill Center and is an environment set up to provide those of us who are in need of mental tranquility through arts and crafts. The building is light and airy and the layout is setup to encourage those using the space to feel comfortable. Entrance is gained by a GP completing and returning a registration form either via an app or a paper copy and taking part in an induction followed by having a taster of what's available. A very worthwhile project that should be supported by the community.
